Calling all gun owners

my wife is a 5'1" hunting machine and i want to get her a new shotgun for Christmas. I am looking for a semiauto that is short and light with low recoil and that wont cost tons of money. she is only 115lbs. so i dont want a real heavy kicking gun. i have been looking around but haven't found much yet. I would love to be able to find a 16ga. or 20 ga. as she will be mostly dove and duck hunting. any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Basicly, any gas operated semi auto 20 guage will be relatively light recoiling. A Browning A5 which is recoil operated would kick a little more. I personally like Remington for Shotguns, but Mossberg makes one, Benelli has there brand and an imported brand(I forget the name) I think it is Stoeger. I would try to find a used Remington 11-87 that has seen little use.

i have looked at those i have a 870 rem and a stoeger m2000 which is the cheap version of the benelli sbe. i would love to get an inertia driven shotgun for the ease of cleaning and reliability of it. then again it is hard to beat the ol 870 for that only problem is its a pump and i want her to have a semi

It certainly IS a nice shotgun, I could get into one of them very easily. I have an old Ithica Lightweight 20 guage, bought it new in 1969. It has been a very reliable shotgun.

You can get the 11-87 in 20 guage. It is a semi auto vs. the 870 pump.

How much are you willing to spend? The softest recoiling 20 ga semi I've ever shot is a Benelli. Any of their inertia driven shotguns are reliable, soft kicking shotguns. Look to spend $800 or so for a Benelli. As said above, the 11-87 and 1100 Remingtons are a little cheaper and are also good gas guns.

You could get a Browning A5 "Sweet Sixteen" It is semi-auto in 16 gauge. However be prepared to part with some green if you find a nice one. I would stick with a 20 gauge myself. With todays ammo selection and availability you can't beat it.

I know a guy that got a nice one for $300... I want that gun, and I don't really like semiautos...

No suggestions, but I do like the 16 gauge, despite the limited shell selection.

My wife shoots a 20 gauge rem semi. I can't remember the model right now. It is a nice gun. Very little kick. I'll probably try to use it as I recover from the shoulder surgery. She is a 5'10". But she enjoys a 7mm Rem Mag too.
