Calling all AR-15 enthusiasts
That's the big advantage in living in a very rural area. I don't anticipate ever having anything like a complete civil breakdown happening right where I live (although I work in Baltimore...
).
I do like upgraded AR's. A lot! I haven't built one in a few years, but for any of the add-ons like rail systems, light mounts, optics mounts and such I stick with YHM, Daniel Defense, and most of all Larue. Mark Larue changed the industry with his stuff - it's art, yet it's indestructible.
I do have a Jewell trigger in one of them and it's pretty darn schweet for most purposes. It's really light though - REALLY light. My last few years have been spent exploring and investing in NFA toys.

Guys, this would be a good thread for the new gun forum we started. I know for now you'll get more traffic here, but maybe you could register and move the discussion over there? It would give us some good posts and information right off the bat.

Match trigger groups don't belong in combat weapons (generally) for a lot of reasons, one of which is reliability. As long as the competition gun has a standard NATO chamber and is chrome lined (match barrels frequently are neither), then that would be OK. 3 gun is a combat based competition so reliability is a consideration, whereas a CMP service rifle or other match style rifles (NRA Highpower such as many of those sold by JP) often have nonstandard chambers (to chamber 80gr loads for example they often have different throats) and can be unuseable with standard M193 or M855 type ammo. In general, the less crap you hang on the rifle, the better off you'll be if predictions about the coming years are accurate. Forgoing many of the doo-dads people often buy can save a bunch of money better spent on mags and ammo, as well as maybe some training. Things like free floated barrels are useful only if you're binding up tight with a sling - it does nothing when shooting off hand, and if you're in a fight you won't likely have much time to build a position.

My shooting instructors wife was at one time sponsored by JP. She shot THOUSANDS of rounds down her JP without failure of any trigger part or anything for that fact and she is not really nice to the gun so to speak. He is very much into home protection and has a JP at arms length pretty much anytime.

I think the guy should learn the AR system before attempting modifications to his trigger.
Disclaimer. Take your gun to a qualified gun smith to have it worked on.
If you are building your lower the Accuracy Speaks trigger doesn't require any more skill to install than a mill spec trigger. If you screw up one you will screw up the other.
