Buying a new printer, anyone?

My G85 printer/scanner/faxer/copier failed for the last time this morning. It ate up an important document that I was trying to copy and then fax, and wouldn't allow me to un-jam it. The timing of it's little performance was phenomenal. So it's out in the back yard with a load of #6's in it.

I went and purchased another quality product by these same folks this morning, not quite as fancy but same functions. Drive back home 30 minutes and go about setting it up and installing it so I can continue with my work. Well, you have to have a special USB cable to link the computer and the printer, but they don't tell you that until step 16 of the install process. It says "Connect the USB cable*...." Then you look up what the little * means and it says "Purchased separately. The contents of your box may differ." Oh, I love it. Talk about convenience. If I had plenty of money, guess where my other two rounds of #6 shot would go? Now it's back to the store to find a cable that should work. I should send them a bill for a couple hours of travel time and expense. If you need to buy an item like this, better grab one of the more intelligent looking employees and ask if there's anything else you need to buy before you leave the store. Hope this saves someone else some frustration.

If you look on the side of the box where it tells you what requirements the printer has (processor, hdd space, memory, etc,) it says it needs a USB cable.

All the printers I have seen have the square four pin USB cable socket.

The box really doesn't say anything like that. I've been all over it, trust me. I just got back from the store again, with my $25 cable in hand. The girl in there just told me that all printers are like that. I'm a dumb **** evidently.

Ah, to hades with the box. It's gonna get patterned too. Twice.
Hey, did you know that the USB cable I had to purchase separately is gold plated? Yes sir.
At least the edit printer works now. That's one of those things that I don't want to have to think about, I just want the thing to do like it's supposed to. And I hate having to go spend money on another one, when it could go towards a comp or a case of steel shot or some scent lock.
