gas is kiling me, but it looks like it will be easier to drive the CTD than have a Kia in the shop.
who's done one of those?
my daughter is having a kid, needs a newer reliable 4dr,
and me & wife need a gas-mizer DD with AC.
those two articles pretty much talked me out of it, let's hear what you guys think.
looks like you pay full MSRP on the SUV, and get the Econo box free.

I havent personally, but ive never hear anything SERIOUS being wrong with them. Seems like the person in the first review wanted to pay 12K and own a ferrari. Yes, you get what you pay for. It costs less because it has less features and technology, DUH! Its the "something for nothing" complex. I see a ton of them running around so they cant be that bad. Its a comprimise car. You put up with a little less power, thinner metal, cheaper interior, etc and in turn you get a cheaper car! Whats hard to understand about that?
The "special" is a bit cheesy however and makes you question their premise. That is something youd find at the movie store or a sale on Dr. Pepper at Albertsons.

both of those people sound like idiots.
The 01 that has a broke timing belt, probably has 100k miles on it. duh. if you dont keep up on them, they break. The other guy was looking for more car than he was going to pay for. For a CHEAP grocery getter, I would say thats exactly what it is. People expect Lexus like qualities from a KIA. Sorry, not going to happen.

Earlier KIAs were reliability nightmares.... some insurance companies would not insure them and banks would not finance. The new ones are not bad at all... better than Volkswagens anyway.
My brother in law has one, its just like any other, like tx_2500 said, you get what you pay for , take care of them and they take care of you, dont and it wont. Brother has 100K+ on his with no problems so far.
My aunt has a Sephia. I dont knwo what year tho. mechanically its a sound car. fit and finish are bad. trunk has leaked from the first rain after the body warranty expired. several door handles have broken. dash is cracked, everything rattles. has a funky smell (probably from leaks)
My Son has a 2006 KIA optima. Has around 45,000 miles on it and has not had to do anything but normal oil changes and 4 new tires last month. He averages 32 mpg.
Not american made to keep union folks happy but good cheap transportation.
He drives a Dodge Dakota when he goes out to play.
