Butch Cassidy

Went down south this weekend for some riding in Butch Cassidy country, there is a place called Robers Roost where the gang hid for months at a time. The Outlaw Trail maps today a very inaccurate and it is still somewhat a guessing game and how they got to Robers Roost, well we found it and I will tell you this that trail seperates the insane from the men and since I happened to be somewhat stupid and with liquid courage on my side me and my buddy got down and up it. Now it doesent hurt that we have some mules that are amazing to me, there were also marking on the trail that pretty much proved it was there route.

Got any pictures? About where is this located. No one took any shots at you?
Years ago a friend of mine was looking for the Lost Dutchman Mine in Arizona. Left when some shots were fired in his direction.

I will have some pice later this week, there is a way to get to robbers roost from a whole other direction that is well documented but it isn't the original outlaw trail. HaHaHa nobody shot at us.

Cool, I wanna see photos. I searched for the Lost Dutchmans mine when I was stationed at Ft. Huachuca. I was always told to watch my back and read the signs accordingly when out there.

Are you talking about the robbers roost near Sedona, Az?

""trail seperates the insane from the men and since I happened to be somewhat stupid and with liquid courage on my side me and my buddy got down and up it. Now it doesent hurt that we have some mules that are amazing to me,""

If the mule can go there it must be a good trail -- my motto is "if you want to ride on a groomed trail then stay on the sidewalks"
I have been told that I am a lunatic rider and the rest of my freinds say that if I say holy crap then they think we must really be in trouble. Now that I have their attention I find the steepest hill and go about half way down, once I know everyone is on the hill, then I mumble something about cant get there from here just to see the looks on their faces priceless

Ha that is funny right there, no it isn't in Sedona it is in Utah google it and you can find info. The scary part about this trail insn't the fact it is straight up it is the fact that it is slickrock straight up, and steep crosshills on the slickrock. There where 10 guys riding 4 of them got rolled on by horses and only 3 guys rode up the crazy part 2 mules (yours truly) and one other horse guy everyone else walked.

I use borium deposits on the heels and toes of my mules for riding slick rock and slimy creek rock. Seen way to many guys slide off bluffs and into cold spring fed creeks.
