Briggs generator - Fuel Tank

So I have this old, decrepet looking generator...Runs Great! Uses a little oil. And has more than enough power to recharge my boat batteries when we're out camping (1-2x per year). I would like to extend the run time. It has the 1-quart fuel tank which gives it ~2hr of run time, then we have to refuel.

The generator also has a carry handle w/out wheels. So I bought a used generator frame for $20 that has ~3gallon fuel tank on it.

My question: Has anyone plumbed a larger fuel tank into the 1-qt tank on a Briggs engine?

My thoughts: Use a Holly fuel bowl (w/ center float) to meter the fuel going into the generator tank.

What are your thoughts? Let me head this one off....Don't want to spend money on a new generator...

TIA

Tony

you should be able to get a large tank and replace the factory tank by removing the hose and putting a larger tank on there.

try one of those.... as long as the tank is high enough to gravity feed, you shouldnt have a problem gravity feeding from a larger tank right to the carb on the generator.

Thanks for the link...found other stuff I could spend money on!

I already have a tank...the issue is plumbing in the larger tank, without overflowing the original briggs tank. And, no, just replacing the tank won't do...This is not a float-type carburetor.

The float off a carb sounds like a good idea to me. I just might use that myself. THANKS!
