Today is Sunday, October 3rd.

On this day in 1863 - U.S. President Lincoln declared that the last Thursday of November would be recognized as Thanksgiving Day.

1893 - The motor-driven vacuum cleaner was patented by J.S. Thurman.

1901 - The Victor Talking Machine Company was incorporated. After a merger with Radio Corporation of America the company became RCA-Victor.

1906 - W.T. Grant opened a 25-cent department store.

1941 - Adolf Hitler stated in a speech that Russia was "broken" and they "would never rise again."

1944 - During World War II, U.S. troops broke through the Siegfried Line.

1952 - Britain became the third nuclear power in the world when they successfully detonated their first atomic bomb. The U.S. and Russia were the only other nuclear powers.

Good morning everybody. Been absent, except for a few drive by glances at this site, so have no idea what has been hap'n here lately. Now that I stop to think about it, does anybody know (or understand) the things that happen or are said here? So what is new?

The coffee is palatable this morning, nice change from the normal swill. Even the room looks nice. Must be the woman's touch.

Been on the road with the fiver aimlessly meandering around. Stayed in Victoria, Tx and then Lavon for a few days. Right now am just north of Broken Bow, Oklhoma in a small private RV park. Nice weather here, no bugs, but starting to cool off at night. Even had to turn the heat on last night to keep my cold blooded wife happy. No idea how long we will hang around here or where we go from here, but maybe after exploring this area and pigging out on more catfish will start heading west and then south to go back home.

Be nice to one another, especially the poor losers who lost the game yesterday.
