Funny you mention that. I've been wondering about a portable pellet maker for personal use.

It would be a great market if I dealt with hardwood.. All of my lumber is made from coniferous tress, in which puts out to much creosote. Shouldn't be burned in fireplaces for long periods of time.

I kinda figured that but hadn't done any research yet. The mills down here that produce any volume of dust or chips sell them to the power company anyway.

Mornin' all!

MIA yesterday. Problems with the net.... All better now.

Hunting deer while the cougar hunts you.... Lots of fun there... Hindal like huntin moose while in grizzley country. Amazing how an animal that big (9-11') can stay hidden and quiet until it's right on top of you.....

-15* today. I'm hoping it'll warm up a bit so I can do some stuff outside. The weather guessers claim this is the warm day for the week then headed back down again. We'll see.

Scotty- youngest turning 4 huh? Making you feel old? My oldest is turning 8 next month! It seems to me it was just yesterday she was being carried around in a caraway all day...

Mama gets home tonight so I probably better clean up a bit in here.

See y'all later

good. when you get elected, hit yourself over the head.

looks like we could all use some good news.

eric, hehe- logic goes out the window when family and decisions have to play nice together. focus on the problem, not the person and maybe a nice cold beer will be served.

tim, keep the ice. be safe.

t rad and claude at the WH next. get a lot of napkins for all the ideas scribbled.

here, the wood is 'powdered' then compressed into pellets. no creosote with that fine particle. flakes for aspenite or particle board. bark is shredded, then floated in a water, chemical mix. resins added, dried, heated and formed for 'environmental' floor mats for cows, floor mats, etc....amazing to watch.

ok, going to split wood and like it!

nice rough legged hawk ther Trad, train it to fetch LOL

Theres a storm brewing...time to go get the sphere shaper ready for another round of large round snowballs to FiverSpeedoNeedsAWashBob.

Both my girls got room overhauls for thier birthdays last year. They both loved it.

It actually is snowing a bit here. Nothing spectacular but enough to dust the truck in a white film.

Headed for the gym.

I thought it was 'DNR'? What's 'D&r'? 'Deny and revolt'?

My DNR forester here at the farm has been telling me Michigan has big cats since I met him in 2003. Showed me a picture of one he took himself at his cabin somewhere up north near you Claude.

What's the mystery there? Isn't the wolverine Michigan's 'official' animal? Or mascot? Or something like that. I would think we'd HAVE to have whatever animal we're claiming in the state in order for us to claim it as 'ours' in the first place.

It's not the FORM, but the process the wood is put thru to GET it to that form. Lots of drying.

Actually, if you look in a late 2009 edition of 'Farm Show' magazine, there's a buyers guide or review section, (don't remember which), of quite a few pellet making machines for personal use. If I remember right, there's a couple of sources of info for building your own as well. Wood has to be dry to make pellets, but not abnormally dry. And you'd have to dry it to burn it as firewood anyway, so that shouldn't be anything special.

Somewhat, yes sir.

Moving out of the nest. I gotta do it sooner or later.

Done quite a bit of schooling and packing today.

Cracked open a few beers. Going to rake up the leaves in the house across the street. The fella moved out about a month ago - and they're starting to stack up. Duty calls.

Evening everyone. Glad to be back.
