Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.
Unless you have goats. Then they need to be water-tight.

Moved cows onto a fresh pivot this morning. I am about beat after getting the tanks moved and wading through thigh-deep snow. And getting the old Foreman 400 unstuck a few times. First time the boss backed the pickup across the road and we hooked a chain to it. Had to dig out the axle to get the chain hooked to it.

how can I blame you for this expense? hmmmmm
Must be a Frod if you had to take a wheel off to get to the brakes? If it was an old disk-braked Farmall I could probably save you about $293

Welp, about 2PM AK time a 727 is supposed to land at Merrill Field. That is outside my office (hangar) window. This should be good. Short general aviation runway covered in ice. It is a "gift" to UAA by FedEx. Was going to do some maintenance flights this morning but they closed the dang airport early. Of course the big bosses from back east are here complaining about not getting the airplanes out.

My cohort in plane wrenchness decided to video tape a propeller inspection we did last week. The bloopers at the end are funny.

For real entertainment I like to go over there when they are all eating corn on the cob.

I bet the people living under the approach are going to freak if they dont know about it. Thats still going to be a trick even after taking most of the fuel off at ANC before the hop to Merrill.

I have to try and do Dads 9N this year. No brakes for years. Only problem is, the rears are filled with calcium chloride. They cant be light.

Did that 27 get down OK, ours used to have nose wheel brakes and we sold most of our fleet of 39 to FedEx, I believe they took 35 of them, they would leave the West coast wet and slushy, land here with the nose wheels frozen and as soon as the nose touched BOOM both tires blown, used to happen often.

Boy Howdy! Been a long time since an airline pilot impressed me. Very slow and smooth landing stopping in front of the tower which is about half way. The total length of the runway is only 4,000 feet. Sweet.

Well then,YOU being a nice son and all,git out there and dig it up.
The stuff I grow I bought from a Korean market ( I think not made in China) this is it's first year, and a pink stripe that is pretty potent.I am looking for a really hot/spicy strain though. The Elephant Garlic just does not have any kick to me.

If the runway was icy, the wheel brakes were probably used very little if at all. Most of the braking is by reverse thrust of the engines.

Same here. Its so mild you can eat a whole bulb raw and it still lacks the good flavor.
When heading towards Sac do you ever go to Pedricks?
They sell bottles of spicy pickled garlic that is better than the Olive Pit's.

Wish I could have watched it.
Do you remember about 15 years ago when they got a permit to land a JAL cargo 747 in Kenai (before the expansion).
Perfect landing but the engine blast wiped out 20,000 dollars worth of lights.

747 at Merril? remind me not to buy any property nearby....eek.
like planes way up or on the ground. still watch the 130s and try to body language them higher..(I still move my feet in a shuffle on commercial jets, heheh)

Bark and evil Californian: ever heard of Genoa? Italian garlic.
worst I have eaten was a Polish one that tasted like a mix of radishes. gosh, people need to stay away from the blast zone.......

Hi busboy. no, I won't ask.

did a round of guitar tonight using the online database. wow. fun to feel 19 and have no pain. I coulda saw lighters out in the crowd......hehehe

glad you are home safe Lord of the Plains. fire sounds REALLY good!

Bark/ScotPaNebraska- I would love to do a 9N or farmall! had both growing up. unfortunately this is an international and I am stymied by an unrelenting flatbar...removed snap ring and soaked it with tranny/kerosene mix. bigger hammer comes out tomorrow.

I so remember wading through cold/snow without thought, just finish the job and move on. now I look out the window and figure I'll wait for Spring.....

very nasty weather out there now. today's sap count is 13 gallons. one black maple is running at 8 percent sugar. doesn't get any better hoo rah!
busy day tomorrow I guess....
