So, I keep seeing a commercial on TV with a cool song. It turns out the song is 'Land of Dreams' by Rosanne Cash. I just Googled the lyrics. Amongst us friends, there may be Merkins and there may be Canucks, but to be fair to all of us, the song seems to be about all y'all (and all us).

Here is a link to the full version. I think it should speak to every one of us (even Slev who is in Scandanavia).

Yup, Johnny's eldest daughter.

DW has gone to sleep but I just realized that we went and picked out her engagement ring 4 years ago tomorrow. We had been living together for a long time (11 yrs) by then but that was the day it became very real. We knew my mom was dying from cancer and wanted her eldest child to be married before she died. I proposed a few weeks later in classic Sean style. CP Rail dug a huge ditch in our fields to put a new irrigation canal under the tracks. When the ring came in, I had her go for a walk with me in the fields. Out by the huge hole that CPR had dug, I got down on one knee in the snow and said 'So, are you gonna marry me or what?'. I kid you not, that is how I proposed. A few hours later, DW asked what I would have done had she said no. She will validate these words if you don't believe me. My response 'Well, CPR was nice enough to have dug the hole......'.

Good thing we love each other and she understands my warped sense of humor.

BTW - we got married July 18 of that year, mom was very healthy and had a great day, she died 100 days later, to the day!! Cancer sucks.

You probably missed it because I didn't post it...

I got orders to Columbia, SC. I'll be teaching Naval Chaplains the finer points of military life from a Marine standpoint...

Evenin.

Enjoyed a beer or two, packed a box or three, then built a fire of some left over lumber. It was a nice evening

Sounds like good duty. You certainly deserve it.
If they already dont have a fear of God by now they soon will.

Dang. Sorry I missed you at Yuma. We had made the trip to Quartzsite going past you 8 years in a row and didn't do it the last two. Now you are leaving.

Oh well, gives me a reason to go to SC.

Hey! That means you will be closer to seafood again.

Thanks for the warning, if I do see them I will not approach them.

I have been heeding your warning about the crazy drivers, the cars have been pretty much what I'm used too. The buses are an entirely different story, give the saying; "throw you under the bus" an entirely new meaning. Absolute maniacs!

Went to Pikes market for the day yesterday, pretty cool. They have a bunch of starving artists still starving just like back home. I guess crap is crap no matter where you sell it. Underground tour today followed by the Space needle.

Y'all have a great day.

I hope it is. "Let us pray" will have a new meaning...

Yeah, I was thinking about that! Too bad, man, and SC is a long way away... but you're welcome to come have some awesome lowcountry seafood with me. We can even go to Beaufort and catch some of it on our own!

Mornin, folks. Packing today again, and the carpet guy is coming over. Just had breakfast, time to get busy!

Yeah, buying a used snowmachine from one of them would be like buying a used typewriter from a gorilla. They pound the heck out of them.

About the only reason I go to Pikes market anymore is for the free samples of Landjäger that a couple of the meat sellers have (I always wind up buying some though).

I have a real weakness for that kind of food esp if it begins by forgetting all table manners and ends with a huge pile of shells.

I did that for years from Chugiak. However, that was in the 80's when there wasnt hardly anybody living in the valley.
I bought one acre in Wasilla where the Fred Meyer now is for $600 bucks.
Sold it a year later for $1000 and thought I was the smartest guy on earth.
