More snow today. I think it has snowed everyday for almost 3 weeks now up here.
Now quite enough for me to plow the driveway. I hate to plow my gravel driveway early in the season while it is still soft under the snow as I just end up scraping a bunch of gravel off the driveway. Instead of plowing it I have been out packing it down with my wheeler….Picture donuts, lots of donuts

Did get down to 14F last night. Starting to look like winter is here to stay a bit….about 5 more months.

The outdoor boiler will want to be fed some firewood today.

Left some black tea and maple syrup out on the counter in case Stan, T-man or Cougar swing in.

Oliver, I use a 12" piece of belting on my plow early in the season to keep from plowing the gravel off, it works pretty good. I have been using this for 5 or so years.

Vern,
Nice plow modification. You take it off later in the season, I assume?

Have you been plowing yet this winter?

I will be honest packing the snow down by drifting around and doing donuts on my quad is pretty fun. I call it the redneck plow job.

Had a light dusting of snow Sunday night. Today? Freezing rain! Forecast is for low single digits starting Thursday and going on for a week. I set the skids up high on my plow, so I don't disturb the gravel or hit a rock. I don't plow until there is a good packed down layer first. Kittens are getting bolder wanting to come in the door. Torti growls and hisses at them but doesn't chase them off. My replacement desk chair is stuck in Spokane WA, thank Amazon.

o, during the summer we had this big dog on our property. Man, it was hungry. You can see, it's not doing so well, but since I wasn't there to give it some kibble, it just moseyed on past.

Our first crop at the new shack location. Gonna pull them in the spring, and relocate them elsewhere on the prop. Gotta love nature.

Today, expecting 3 to 6" of snow, aka the first appreciable snow so far this 25-26 winter season. Otherwise, things have been very green.

Oliver yes, I pull the belting after the snow packs down for a base. Until I had cancer surgery I was plowing an average of 13 folks in my area and that belting has held up well, the customers couldn't believe how well it worked at keeping their gravel on their driveways. You always will get a little bit, but it works way better than any shoes I tried.

With meat being hard to find and way overpriced, I'm afraid the next moose that passes through my yard is going into the freezer.

Another 6 inches of snow in the driveway today. More driveway donuts will be in order this afternoon before the sun sets at 4:30.

8 inches in my driveway, as I type this. Glad I'm not there having to dig it out.

That's why my security guard comes in handy.... lol

Another 3 inches of snow last night and it is still snowing. They are calling for -3F tonight. Acting pretty wintery up in VT.

I might have to think about getting out the real plow truck if this keeps up. My daughter's front wheel drive car might be able to make it down the driveway when she comes up to visit this weekend.

Moose burritos. I bet those are tasty.

Might, might not get some snow tonight. Then the temperature drops. Anywhere between +5° and -5° not counting wind chill. And it's supposed to get windy again. All ready this time. Got my thermals and pack boots standing by. Inventoried the survival gear and put one in each vehicle. Winter fuel in the trucks. Somewhere around here the wife has a cookbook called 101 was to cook a moose, among other critters.

Reading about some of you receiving all that snow, freezing, wearing special clothing to keep warm etc just reminds me of why I escaped all that nonsense. Been there, done that, bought the tee shirt. Have all too often dug my car out of the driveway to go to work and then needing to dig our the driveway again when I got home. Ain't no fun! Now living in a climate where I have not seen snow since 2000. Really don't want to ever see snow again.

New one for me.
It was so cold here last night some of the VT schools cancelled school due to the cold. They stated the busses where not handling the cold well and there where not enough working buses to pick up the kids in a safe and timely manner.

Let me guess they where the busses that pass the new emission rules that can't start in the cold. Or where they the new electric models that can not hold a charge when they are cold?
I never remember school being cancelled because it was -10F when I was a kid. Most years I walked to school anyway. It was only uphill one way though.....
