Depends on the part of the state you're in. In the East you have a lot of timber(relatively speaking) so the deer aren't nearly as confined. In the West, cover is sparse with few trees. You have your choice of whitetails and mulies in the west though. Deer numbers are high across the state with a one buck a year limit regardless of weapon. Bow hunters have an advantage because of the timing of the season.... we get to hunt the pre- rut and rut.

The hard part about Kanas is getting a tag, I love to hunt muies. I'll keep throwing sticks at the whitetails here in Missouri.

I thought kansas eliminated the over the counter tags for residents this upcoming year, going to a lottery system? Not sure, I live here in missouri.

basically... they've gone to a unit system for bowhunting similar to the rifle units, only larger. They gave no reason for the change to the application system. You can still buy over-the-counter tags for certain tags... landowner/tenant, anterless only... The 'lottery' system isn't really a lottery system. I've never heard of someone being denied a tag, there just aren't that many hunters, especially bowhunters to warrant it.

Non-residents are on a true lottery system where you aquire points and what-not.
