Best university vehicle

I have been asked to help in the search for a good vehicle for young lady getting ready for her first year of university. She only has $3,000 available to spend on the actual purchase with a bit left over for importation and repairs.

Any suggestions as to what year, make and model for what would be a good and reliable vehicle for her to buy? She wants a Jeep, but that may not be the best bang for her few bucks.

Honda Civic

Cheap, reliable, not terribly expensive to maintain, good fuel economy.

If it is a warm climate, then I'd also suggest a Civic or Tercel or something similar.

Yep...x2 Honda Accord or Civic. 93-97 years were good and easy to maintain.

My daughter starts college next year, 1991 honda accord ($1700). Everything still works and gets 26mpg. Thinking about trading in our cobalt for a 2 door accord now.

Get her this. It's a Jeep and it's probably right in her price range too.

Right along with the civic, a camry will be pretty reliable and they do well in crashes for their size.

How many inert drunk bodies could you pack in the back?

Nice, but cruel.

Thanks guys for responses. Will let her know tonight what you all told her. The bike is out as it is about a 30 mile trip one way daily on semi deserted road and at night. Not a good idea for a young woman.

If I had one of those do you think I would pass it on to a kid? That one I would keep for myself.
