Best thermos bottle
Best thermos bottle
Alright, I'm sick of cold coffee in the duck blind. What is the baddest thermos you can buy, that'll keep it hot for 6 hours or so. Hot, not kinda-warm. I've got 3, and they all suck.
Stanley, the green ones, keep my coffee warm all day. I fill it hot hot water out of the tap for 10 minutes before I pour the java in it, preheat so to say. Also tougher than spring steel. used as a wheel chock more than once.
i second the stanley green ones i got some that were my dads when he was loggin and they have to be in the 20ish years old range and even though they dont go the orig handle and have copper pipe and hose clamps instead they are awsome thermous
Ditto on the green Stanley. One thing I've noticed, if you leave coffee in it, it stays hot for up to 12 hrs. If you start drinking, it cools much quicker. Another vote for pre-heating it, the first cup will still scald over 2 hrs later if done properly.
We need pics on this one.
Wait a minute.... a duck blind without 110v? You're ruffing it aren't you.

Thanks yall. I'm getting a green stanley this weekend. I preheated my least suckiest thermos this morning, filled with hot coffee at 4am, and when I got back to the boat from deer hunting at 9:15 it was cold. Nasty cold, couldn't drink it.
I have a "Work Series" vacuum sealed Thermos . It will keep coffee hot for about a day.

This one here is the Field model most everyone here is talking about. I have one, my Dad has one, my Grandad has one...
It is designed to keep things hot for 12 hours.
It is also 90 yrs old this year.
What I found helps is to do all the above mentioned in previous posts. But also, when you take the first cup of coffee out of it, keep it upright. That way, the srface of the liquid is minimized. If you put it on its side, the liquid has more surface area exposed, and will cool down faster.

I had a Stanley Black that I could keep coffee warm all day long in. Of course I also had a paint oven that I kept it in. I bet any thermos would have stayed warm in there...But if it were plastic, it would have melted also.
My father bought a green Stanley new in 1982 and never opened it. He gave it to me when I started to work outside for a living. It will keep coffee all day long. I have to check it every so often once I start drinking out of it. Once you crack it open the first time, it wants to keep letting the lid losen up. That lets the heat out quick and, on occasion, has caused a small coffee stain on the rear seat of the truck.
If the lid is kept in check, I'll have afternoon coffee at 4:00pm on the ride home.

I have a Arco steel one??? I think that's the brand that I bought new about 5 years ago...... It has since been seriously abused.
the lid is dented in the top from standing it upright under an air ride seat and hitting a big bump...... The handle is broken etc. But it still seems to keep my coffee hot all day!
I do find they stay hotter if you don't open often and keep it upright. I think the surface area theory as previously posted is right. Preheating is a must.
The only time I have been realy dissapointed with it's performance is when it gets real cold......... at -40F nothing seems to keep your coffee hot long
