best radar detector
Lazer Guns? I thought it was Radar Guns. No wonderthe melenomas and carcomas have been leaving my body since running the VA highways.
The Police feel having a detector indicates one is a habitual speeder? I can understand them not wanting people doing 90 mph in traffic thats doing 55-60. I see these people weaving in and out all the time (don't get me started on tailgating) and this is dangerous. My reason for wanting one is that I drive almost always 9-10 mph faster than the posted highway/interstate speed and am usually one of the slower drivers. I just don't want to suffer the consequences by way of a ticket in case Mr. Officer (said-w-all due respect) "sees" the wrong car or maybe is just having a bad day and doesn't like Dodge trucks-Nah-can't imagine that.
In town I accept the posted sign unless I am getting run up on by all other traffiic. I beleive in keeping a safe distance between cars and when I get some white rap star-w-a crooked hat/visor, thumping 10" subs, carbon fiber hodded rice rocket driving sitting cockeyed, layed back, talking on the cell phone on my buttocks. I show him how slow my truck can go. I don't slam on the brakes though. If he gets an opening and tries to pass I pay close attention and do my best to prevent it while, again, not endangering other drivers. I try and give him just enough room to NOT pass. I call it "pinching" and I get great pleasure out of a good pinching. In my boring life it is actually something I look forward to.
Any other tailgate battlers out there-w-techniques to share.
BTW - I have a friend that does slam on his brakes. He couldn't care less and drives several cars a year due to rear end damage. He isn't a money seeker (IE law suit) but he has no second thoughts about locking up his brakes if someone rides up his bumper. His limit is about 1-1.5 feet. I don't condone this but feel it incumbent upon myself to alert the public

I am sure the V-1 is the best bar none, but for the money I purchased a Solo ($89) and have had good luck. It seems to work when I need it. No tickets. It has a cordless option and I mounted it above the rearview mirror behind the sunscreen.
I never heard of this before, I checked out their site and was truly impressed. I had always thought that Escort was the best....key words being....I HAD thought...I now know different. Thanks for the heads up, mine should be here Mon. or Tues.

I have heard that the Valentine 1 is a good detector. I have owned a couple of Escort detectors and they seemed to work pretty good also.
My experience with radar detectors is it just lets you know about 30 sec. sooner that you are about to get a ticket.

I have a valentine one! I like it alot, it shows me which direction the radar is comming from. Its power wire is just like a phone cable? Ive seen them on other ones too. Valentine is the best, you cant go wrong! I was just wondering about wiring it up so I dont have to keep it plugged in! But Im not sure of it because it has 4 wires inside it, instead of 2.

The V1 is the best, but I don't understand why people need these. Speed within reason. On the highways (not towing) I don't let off the accelerator past the 5-0 going 9mph over.

Got another one on the same highway, south of San Angelo north of I-10...70MPH daytime, 65 MPH night-time. Sun was just down, I was doing 71 MPH...got a written warning for 71 in a 65. So...even speeding within reason these bored troopers getcha.
My Cobra cheapie was stolen out of my truck, so I figure I'm going to buy a good one, not park at that apartment anymore, and not leave it in my truck anymore either.
Valentine One is what I will be going with.

So far I have found that if you drive about 25MPH over the speed limit, you will have great success in detecting any hidden radars out there......As a matter of fact they will even come to you

One of these, properly employed, will make that dash mounted Fuzz-Buster a poor 2nd choice.
