I have only found one road that the garmin didn't know existed. Its the road to the rifle range.
anyway, in addition to the map that come iwth the unit, I have also added the sd card with the SE topo maps.
My GPS has replaced a couple books that I used to carry in my truck (still got the spiral bound road map tho)
When I was in wisconsin, talking to the instructor about places to eat, I pulled my gps, searched, and logged them to favorites.
Trying to explain to someone where something is, put the gps in overhead view and its just like looking at a small map.
the only complaint I have is I would like for the GPS to search faster and since the nuvi 200 has an internal antenna, its a bit slow to pick up a signal. an external antenna option would be nice

Garmin 760 here. Only thing I didnt like was the lack of printed instructions. They are all in the unit and are pretty good but I like having a booklet to look at.

The only one I own is for the truck but there seems to be a big difference. The ones for hiking have a lot more battery time for starters.

Yes. It would be nice if they could make one unit do it all, but I guess it just doesn't work that way.

The hiker hand held types.......let you mark waypoints say for "camp" or "home". They are all about getting you back to where you started or keeping a tracking log. They will still give speed and also elevation. You can go anywhere and they can always get you back......even in the woods. They will tell you how far away you are from the waypoints. Recently, I took a trip to NYC and on the flight back.........for fun, I used my handheld gps to mark waypoints in the sky and kept up with how fast the pilot was flying the plane. (507 mph was the fastest at about 34,812 ft)

The car models........have maps of the roads across the USA and I guess in some cases, the world. They keep up with points of interests (restaurants, gas stations, tourist attractions etc.) They know the roads and what roads to take to get to a locale. That is information is not as helpful when you are lost hiking or atving in the woods.

Thanks again Annabelle. I went ahead and ordered a "NEW" Garmin 760 from Amazon. I think it was $221.....which is prob the cheapest I have seen.
