Benelli Shotguns?
Benelli Shotguns?
Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting a Benelli shotgun for the upcoming goose hunting season. Well, I'm gonna goose, deer, and maybe dove hunt with this gun, so I want one that would be good in all those areas. These are the ones I've been looking at.

I've got a Supernova, and love it. I haven't shot it all that much, but it is the smoothest shooting pump I have ever shot. I only use it for skeet shooting and dove hunting though. It's a little on the heavy side, but I did a lot of research before I got it and decided it was the way to go.
I have a Benelli M1 Super 90 Tactical with ghost-ring sights and a SureFire grip and wouldn't trade it for any other gun.
I also have Remington's and a Mossberg and there is no comparison.
You can buy 3- 4 standard shotguns for the price of 1 Benelli.

Thats no joke, but they are nice, how many semi's can you load with 3 different loads ranging from light skeet loads to 3 1/2" mags and it will cycle everyone of them flawlessly. My brother has a Super Black Eagle, his primary deer gun, he likes it, I don't like shooting 2 1/4 oz. loads out of it, kicks like a mule IMO. But you supposed to hunt with those loads, not shoot them for fun. My dad has a Montefeltro in 20ga. Very nice one too.
I still use relics, Ithica model 37's.

I bought my son a montefeltro 12ga for his bday last year as I thought to be a gun that if taken care of properly could last him a lifetime and it was light enough for him to carry all day pheasant or quail hunting. I use my dads old berreta. He probably got it around 1980 or a little earlier. I spent 60 bucks this year getting it tuned up. First time a penny had been spent on it instead of through it.
I have a Nova 12 ga that I use for Duck/Goose hunting and love it. Got it as a Christmas present a couple of years ago. First hunt with it me and the gunfell into the salt water in the back of Copano Bay on a cold morning. Trying to throw a dead duck at a buddy that was taking a leak behind the blind and I slipped in the mud. Dang the bad luck. Cleaned it real well and no problems since. I hunt with a Rem 1100 20 ga as my Dove/skeet gun. There is not enough money to get rid of that one. Sentimental and all around awsome firearm. Brad

I bought a used M1 Super 90 this year and so far it has been a very good gun. Out of a hundred rounds, it had a failure to feed once, but I think it was one of my reloads had a little crease in the shell.
Benelli's do kick a little harder than a gas operated gun but with the loads I shoot (lighter) I don't really notice.

I have a Supernova. Used it for everything, rubber loads, geese, skeet, etc. It has been an exceptional gun. I agree, being able to chamber in 2 1/4", 3", and 3 1/2 " makes things alot better. It is a solid built gun. For the price it would be the most worth it (from experience).
Ive got a superblack eagle, best gun i bought yet. I treat it like crap and never had a problem yet. I throw it on the ground intentionally, used it to nock a door loose, free up a stuck latch on a utility bed, used as a walking stick when stuck in swamp, o and drove over it at the forehand grip with my ram 1500. They tolde me when i bought it it had a life time waranty and its tough enough top drive over with a truck. I can say they didnt lie. You will be pleased with it i can assure you.
Heres my take on it(for what its worth). If you are just going to shoot it occasionally for hunting and not fire lots of rounds through it while doing so then I would recommend the Nova just because of the cheaper price. Its not that it wont hold up to lots of shooting but after a long shooting session with heavy loads it WILL wear on you more than the auto whether you immediately realize it or not( as the case with just about any pump). If you are going to shoot it frequently and put lots of rounds through it when you do shoot it then I would step up to the black eagle/super black eagle. The recoil will be dramatically reduced over the pump. They are too expensive in my opinion for someone who is just going to shoot every now and then but they are well made and they should hold up to some pretty extreme abuse.
If you are going to use it to primarily shoot clay targets then I would suggest looking at a Beretta 391. This is the type of gun I shoot clays with in competition and I put thousands of rounds through mine each year. It will recoil even less than the Benelli but you will have to spend more time cleaning it due to it being gas operated vs recoil operated.
Like I said, this is just strictly the opinion I have after shooting all of the above shotguns. I dont think you will be dissapointed in any of them.
