For those who are worried about me keeping him penned up, its just for nights and when were not where we can make sure he doesnt run off.

And what really surprises me is his fast pace training. The previous caretakers kept their dogs inside, and so he really wanted to come inside. Every time we walked in he would try to follow us in, or scratch on the door (sliding glass). Just a light tap on his nose and a 'no' or pick him up by the scruff of his neck to take him out seemed to be enough. In just 3 days he is already learning. Plus, when I did keep him in my room the first 2 nights, he waited all night till I could take him out in the morning to go to the bathroom, when he would make a mad dash out of the yard to where Im teaching him to go.

I gotta say, this dog is a real hoot! Great character, plus being lab, he LOVES the water. Im getting him a pool tomorrow, cause as soon as I fill his drinking water, he goes swimming in it.
Labs are the greatest IMO. I've always had them and I have one now that'll be 20 weeks old this coming Friday.

They're 'people' dogs tho. They LIVE to please their owners, and they can't do that if they're not around you. I think this is the reason so many of them chew as much as they do. Anxiety from being seperated from their people makes them do crazy things. They like to have something in their mouths just by nature, (they are afterall, retrievers!), and the next natural step for them when they get anxious is to chew.

How 'bout a pic of him?

$oC@l CTD; that's one nice Lab you got there!

Kipper-Luckily we have no spare of guns around here, so that wont be a problem.
He did a lot better last night. Didnt start barking til 530. I let him out to go to the bathroom and walked him around, played with him for 10-15 minutes and then put him back. He barked a couple of times, and I just did as I read on a site-hit the window to distract him, then tell him to hush. 2 times later, and he's quiet....for now.
Well, heres the little monster, right before I went to church Sunday (thats why he chained up)

And him, in his worn out and lazy stage

What a great looking little lab! 'English' style too by the looks! Treat him like he's one of your kids and he'll be the best dog you could ever ask for. Thanks for the pix!
