Barely over a week! (hunting)

Well it is a little more than a week till my first turkey season, starts April 6. I plan on being out there about an hour before daylight, and hunting all day. I don't think I have ever been this excited in my life. I keep practicing with my calls, I am gonna pattern my shotgun on Saturday... It's about all I can think about.

Any tips from the experienced turkey hunters out there? I know there outh to be a few on here?

I don't hunt turkeys, so I can't offer you any advise....but you can sure come to my house and help me exterminate some. **** things are all over the place here. Always coming in my yard and pissing off my dogs in there kennel...barking all the time. Can't even drive on the roads here without slowing down all the time for them as they are always blocking the road. Seems the neighbor thought he would get a few for the farmyard about ten years ago and didnt take care of them, now there about 2-300 of em roaming the countyside now. Sorry, not trying to steal your post...just had to get that off my chest.

I am over run with them also it has really taken the fun out of calling them in when all you got to do is step out on the deck and shot . Back in the days when they weren't that plentiful I would find out were they roost and set up about 50 to 100 yards off preferable on the other side of a valley with not to much thick brush between me and them . I would start calling after they flew down and try to stay as still as possible with full camouflage on and don't call to much after you get and answer back , just enough to keep them interested . You will need a head shot anything else won't do it , all you will get is a few feathers . It amazed me how they can take a high brass 3 in magnum hit in the body and fly off . We hunt them around here with a bow now and try for head shots to put some skill into it .

I would like to hunt them, but you can't in this county. Oh well, I get about 2-3 per year with the truck!!

Thanks for the advice John (and Geico...

And I'm really impatient now... I looked at my calander, I have 2 weeks to go. I guess that is more time to practice my calls.
