Time to head back to the range for some more sighting in.

He must have bumped his scope or something. Where is it that Deer are that stupid? You blast like that around here and they are GONE..........(the first time)

Another reason for "peep through" mounts. He could have dropped that thing with iron sights all day at that distance.

I had a neighbor that loved to hunt.
When he went out, he went with several of his buddies. They were there to help him carry the cases of beer to his hunting stand.
Im not far off by making the statement, his stand was made up of cases of beer.
When the stand was empty, he'd head home.
Then all of us neighbors would listen to his stories about how he never hit anything, or the riffle was off, or the wind was blowing.... etc, etc,
After several dozen cases of beer, I can understand why he came back empty.
I have pity on his fellow hunters that were in the area.

Rich.

You'd think that by the third shot he'd realized that it was hitting "a little left." A term I like to use is compensation. Yeah...that deer clearly knew he was not in any danger!

I've seen the WalMart hunters before.
They buy their hunting license,
their (still have creases in them from the packaging) new cammies,
their (still has preservative on it) rifle with
the (Just screwed it on last night) scope, and into the woods they go.
Watched a guy try to "qualify" to Bow Hunt a military installation
(3 out of 5 arrows w/ broadheads into a 9" paper plate @ 20 yds, and 30 yrds)
....wasn't even hitting the backstop at 20 yards.
He bought his archery setup the night before at K-Mart..............
I only had to shoot 3 @ 20 and 3 at 30 and ruined 3 arrows in the process.
Wish they had let me use a 5 spot target.

He was real consistent in his misses , so my guess would be an equipment problem . I have a guy that hunts with me who can put all his shots in a nice group standing at 100 yards but when a deer is standing their he misses at 20 yards , I have seen him miss many times and none of us can figure it out why . He is always the one that has the big bucks going by his stand to make things worse . A good friend of mine asked me last week if he could put his mother up in a stand because she had never got a deer so we set her on my farm . She had a single shot 410 and after a few hours a buck walked in and she missed and then handed the gun to my friend and told him to shoot , he and I had already talked about that and I had told him to make sure it is her kill . They sat their arguing in the stand the buck just stood their and he reloaded and handed the gun back and she shot and dropped it the second time . She was so excited that she could hardly fill out her tag and my friend was still laughing when he came out of the woods . I have made it a goal of mine to make sure every year I help at least one person to get thier first deer and it has always been real enjoyable experience for me .

Did he wait for the the deer to run between the 2nd and 3rd shots??? He's sure not a Lee Harvey Oswald, At least he's blamed to have hit something.

I cant say for sure about this guy, but breathing is a big deal. Taking the shot at your natural respiratory pause is the ideal time, no tension on the body. Plus if he was drinking the night before, didnt sight the scope correctly, buck fever, anything could have been going wrong. That said, when you miss a deer like that three times, you record OVER the footage so it doesnt get out! BAD HUNTER!
