The mechanic's identity wasn't released
thats because they haven't finished putting the parts back together.

That is too bad, He probaly was someone who had done a pre flight inspection 1 billion times and just was numbin it.

Did you hear about the poor guy that got pulled into a wood chipper. I actually think it happened here in Colorado, this guy owned his own tree trimming business and had been doing it for almost 25 years. Him and a buddy were trimming some trees, friend was in the bucket and witnessed him being sucked into the shredder and you know the rest...................!!!

What a terrible way to go man, and for his friend also. That is horrible!!

Complacentcy and ear protection. Also anytime you are around a constant noise you tend to block it. You look to make sure there is no leak and you make the shortest route to where your going. It only takes a couple of seconds to be over. A turbo-fan will hardly hesitate while doing it too.

That is one of the hazards of under-wing engines. It is amazing how much stuff we get in ours even at 15' off the ground.

I'm guessing the flight was delayed.

We had a guy on one of our projects get his leg caught in a large grout mixing machine. There were two of them working and they needed to clean the dried grout out. They should have performed a lockout / tagout, but they didn't.

Both men climbed into the bin to clean the machine by beating on the sides and the agitator with metal bars to knock the dried grout off. They got one side done and they needed to "bump" the motor so the agitator would turn so they could do the other side. The first guy climbed out and the second guy followed. However, as the second guy was stepping over the side he remembered that he left his bar in the machine. He stepped back in to grab the bar and right as he did his co-worker "bumped" the starter on the engine. When he bumped the starter, it turned the agitator. The man's leg became lodged between the agitator paddle and the wall of the bin and it stripped the meat off of one of his legs from the knee down.

He lived to work another day, but his leg was never the same after that.

All it takes is one second of carelessness and it's all over.

My co-worker Bryan did a smooth move the other day working on his CTD. Had his trucked parked in the driveway so he could take his driveshaft off to replace his U-Joints and spaced out putting the E-brake on.

Well needless to say took the bolts off, driveshaft wouldn't come out, hit it with a hammer, driveshaft fell and truck came hauling but backwards and crushed him under the tire. Luckily he was able to wiggle his way out from under the tire..............but GEEEEZ that's a scary deal!!! Makes you think twice about double checking stuff before you do it!!

Our draftsman is a former Air Force Mechanic. That happens more often than you would think.
