Has anyone out there ever attached a Swisher universal mounting bracket to an ATV?

I'm attempting to attach one to my Polaris 600, and am having trouble getting the support springs to line up straight across. When I tighten the brackets, it moves them out of aliginment.

I'll call the factory tomorrow, but thought I might get help here tonight.
