Which AR-15?

I have the chance to buy either. I wish I could afford both.....maybe I can. But, if I can't which should I get? Thanks.

AR-15 H-bar, Flat Top, 2 Mags, Ammo $775

Bushmaster Vmatch 24" AR15, jarred trigger, very accurate, $800

I believe you will save even more money by piecing it out and building it yourself. My bro-in-law builds his own ARs and he wouldn't have it any other way. They are sweet, he loves them more than himself. They are all decent quality virtually all the same so don't be fooled by the high priced namebrands, it will be the same gun. JMHO Of course if these are used guns you are looking at and they are closely availabe I guess it wouldn't hurt, but the bond should be solid between man and gun. You feel better when you know it was a gun you built and it rocks!

Yeah these are local private guns=no paper work. So, I thought I really don't more but if the price was right and no paper work then it couldn't hurt.

You aughta get new for those prices or less if you order the uppers and lowers seperate. A whole, new gun averages a couple hundred more qualifying it for an excise tax.

24" is a long barrel on an AR. And it will be heavy.

For not much more money you could build a better rifle in my opinon.

I didn't read all the posts, but if you can find an off the shelf rifle that is EXACTLY what you want go for that. otherwise I would build. Most of your kit gun companies will customize a kit to what your wanting.

I have a Bushmaster V-match with a 20" Fluted Heavy Barrel that shot 1/3 MOA out of the box. Their two stage trigger is actually pretty nice and crisp (Moly lue works best on the trigger sear)

The V match barrel is heavy. If you are going to get the 24" V match you better budget in a shooting bench too, cuz it's a bench gun.

If the H Bar is all Colt buy it. Colts do and always will cost more money.

Quick price break down.

Lower receiver $125.00
Lower parts kit 70.00
Stock 70.00
Upper assembly 500.00 to 2000.00

Scope mount/rings 30.00 to 225.00
Scope 70.00 to 2000.00
Trigger upgrade 10.00 to 250.00

If you can change the spark plugs in your CTD you can put an AR together.

Yes I know there aren't any spark plugs that's how easy it is.

Thanks for the info. Both guns sold early that morning so I didn't get a chance to buy either one. I'm already out of room in my safes so I really didn't need another one but I thought what the heck. I will be building 2 of them in the near future. One will be a short carbine and the other a SASS style with a higher power scope on it. Then will be adding a .338 Lapua sniper to the mix once I find out which platform to go with. So far the Sako TRG42 is looking like it's in the lead. Might use an AR-10 for the SASS.

I put many M-16's together in the Army as that's all we had. I carried a 1911 for a side arm too as a TC on a recovery tank when I was attached to a cavalry unit.

If you can find a way to get on the gun-forums.com site, look at this thread:

http://www.gun-forums.com/showthread.php?t=1369

It goes into serious detail about AR-15's.

Go ahead and get the SR 15 or SR 25 and be done with it. It only costs money to go with the best...
