Appraisel - Why The BIG Difference?

Why does NADA, KBB and Edmunds have such a wide discrepancy in used truck/car prices? When entering the same zip, equipment, etc, the prices in some cases, vary by the thousands.

I have always wondered that myself, it seems like all dealers use KBB to determine trade in value because they are always lower in retail than NADA or Edmunds.

It is incredible how far they are off listing the same car with the same options....not sure what they base their numbers off of??

Different dealers uploading different lies about what they are selling the vehicles for. I have found KBB to be much lower on the trade in values. Like anything else, they have a network of people that report selling prices, how they can be that differnt is a mystery to me too. Many dealers around here would be more than happy to give you KBB wholesale. They have "wholesalers" that will come in and give them more than that by the car carrier load. (if they don't want to market it on the lot)

Appraisal.

Edmunds always seems to have way higher numbers than the other two. i just wish their numbers were accuarate. If so I could have almost done an even trade on my old 03 for the new 07!!!

appraisals

I had an '01 dodge diesel 4x4 extended cab 4 door auto that I got rid of when I bought my '06. It had 250,000 miles on it but it was in near perfect shape( should have kept it). The NADA book on it said it was worth around 12-15,000 if I am correct. The dealer said they went by Kelley's blue book. It said it was around 10-12,000. So they wanted to give me 5,000 for it. Sounds like they were on crack to me!

Seems like it does not matter what a "book" says unless its in their favor. I told them no thank you and sold it myself.

I thought about trading mine in about 6 months ago on a new one, and KBB said trade in my truck was worth $15,000 on the high side.........and I only have 98K miles on it!! So needless to say that changed my mind right there.......they make a bloody killing on used vehicles!!

Those just make it worth more.

Tonight when I walked out of my daughter's house.....there sit Ole' Red.....all nice an shiney. And then I asked myself......."Why would you want to get rid of a perfectly great truck?" We just passed 7 years a couple of months ago, and a little over 3 years was the previous truck record.

It'll be 6 in April for me and my truck.

You must not be lying to us about not washing your truck. Even when you came down to my place you didn't have a single bug on it and that's a 300+ mile trip. Rowland and I just couldn't believe it.

I hear Edmunds is run by optimists while KBB only hires pessimists.

Charlie, You just now finally got Ole Red broke in good at what ? 180,000 miles or so? You can't get rid of the ole girl now...she is part of your family.

We know you love that truck....look how immaculately clean you keep it all the time!!!

You don't want to be stuck driving a slow and quiet 3rd gen like me!

That explains Charlie's delay in getting to your house, he had to stop and wash the truck before he got there.
