Question Anyone know about Baja Motorsports ATV's?

Anyone have any experience with Baja Motorsports ATV's?

Pep Boys and a few other stores sell them.

I want to get an ATV soon, but I can't afford a "name" brand yet.

I was thinking of getting a used one, but they're still out of my range. That's why I considered one of these. I don't plan on any extreme 4-wheeling. I've never riden a Baja ATV before, and I don't know anyone who owns one. The 300cc Baja has a Suzuki motor. The other sizes have something else.

Have you ever seen one before? I've only seen them on the show-room floor of Pep Boys.

$2,000.00 is my limit. Even that might get me in trouble with my better half. I'm looking for a 2-wheel drive, because they seem way less expensive than
4x4 units. So I guess that would be a "sport" ATV?

pgilles, I'll check out that thread too.

Just checked that thread out. That makes me feel better that someone has actually riden one of these!

I can get a 125 Baja from Costco for $1,300.00. They are a little cheaper than Pep Boys.

if you really aren't looking for speed you can pick up a used yamaha blaster (2 stroke) or a yamaha warrior (4 stroke) they are both in your price range and you aren't buying some knock off made in China. or if you come up with some extra cash get a hold of me because I will be selling my 05 Bombardier DS650 Baja X soon for 5500.

fwiw, i bought a 1983 honda ATC 185cc 3 wheeler 1.5 weeks ago and paid $150. put $5 of parts on it to get it running. many 3 wheelers can be had for $600 in great condition. obviously theyre 2 wheel drive but very light weight and can still go 40-50mph+ (if going that fast with one wheel up front doesnt bother you ).

i used to own a '84 Honda Big Red ATC 200ES and had a ball on the back for moving my snowmobile trailer around...it did fine but the steering wasnt the greatest with that weight back there.

just another option to think about...

I haven't seen many used ones for under $2,000.00. Most seem to be kind of new and still over $3,000.00.

But I agree, the 3-wheelers are usually well under $1,000.00.

I want to get one by the end of June at the latest. So I'll still consider a Baja and a used name brand.

Amprice4, thanks for the offer, but $5,500.00 is wayyyy out of my price range.

If you were closer, for what your looking to spend I'd sell you a 2002 Polaris Trailblazer with rear rack and trailer hitch that has not left my property since I got it. (nobody wants to ride it) Or I'd trade you staight up for the Firebird

There is an auction outfit here that sells a bunch of the Baja motorsports atv's. Usually they are returns or damaged (plastic etc) and can usually be had for under $2000 pretty easy for the nicer models (300 cc's automatic). That being said, they are kind of light made and I think they are difficult to get parts for. The website is purplewave.com.

It would be tempting to trade the Firebird. But my brother bought a 67 Firebird a few years back, and it's wayyy faster than mine (when mine ran). So now I have plans to fix mine up....someday!

Before my brother bought his, I was considering selling mine. I haven't run it in about 15 years.

The "difficult to get parts" worries me. But maybe if I "baby" the ATV, it will last forever! Or not
