Anyone know an 1811 Federal Agent? Considering leaving the Army want advice

Does anyone here know any Federal Law Enforcement agents? I am considering leaving the Army and applying with the FBI or any GS-1811 positions. I would like to talk to someone on the job to seek advice.

Thanks,
Bob

If we did, we wouldn't know it.
If they told us they were a Fed, they'd have to kill us.

I think my best friend growing up married an FBI agent, but we haven't been in contact since he moved to DC after High School.

Today a "Federal Agent" is a very broad statement. FBI, Federal Marshals, Homeland Security, just to name a few. My son is also about to get out, and he always wanted to join the FBI, so we gathered some basic information.
To join the FBI a college degree is a MUST, preferably a graduate degree too, Masters or law. My son has a degree in bio-tech and was commisioned at graduation, and has four years of active duty. It was sugested that he get a civilian job first for a few years, two or three, then apply to the academy. Of course there are always exceptions, specially for those who posess some special skill that is needed by them. Being a veteran of course gives you preference.
Good luck to you, thanks for you service.

They have relaxed some of their requirements lately in order to attract higher numbers of applicants.
There are 2 skills that almost guarantee initial screening. Foreign language or Law degree.
While military experience is highly valued a degree is paramount.

Will PM you my experience.

Thanks guys for the replies. Big Jimmy I wouldn't mind the CIA. I've been on active duty for 10 years now. I think I am ready for a change of pace. I have to admit it would be hard to walk away from the retirement.

I've already been to Korea for one year and Iraq for six months. since 9-11-01. I just buried one of the guys in my unit last Tuesday. That was my sixth military funeral in the last 18 months or so from people in one of my units. It has got a lot of people thinking. I just think I would make more of a difference in the federal law enforcement arena.
