Just wondering what you guys with a GM 6.0L V8 are getting as far as gas mileage goes?

I had an 02 GMC 1500hd 4x4 with the 6.0. Town= 10 highway about 15. But it ran really good and had great power. Now Cummins town=15 highway almost 20!

Thanks for the responses guys. Did you have any mods or all stock? By mods I mean headers, exhaust, chip, intake, the normal stuff.

Dad's 01 2500HD Crew W/Flatbed...12-13 around town, 13.5-14 Highway, 8-11 towing (depends what he's pulling!)

They would be a lot better if they weren't stuck with 4.10's!

I talked to one guy with the "new" 6.0L variable displacement, whatevery they are calling it. he said it drives good, but has some lag switching between 4 and 8 cylinders. He had only had it a couple days so he couldn't give a fuel mileage complaint.

From: My head lays down in Murrieta, but the day light hours are spent in San Diego, Ca.
my dad has a 2X4 '03 hd2500, 6.1 L, 4 spd auto, crew cab short bed with a cab high shell, 3" lift kit, 285 75 16 a/t (soon to be 315 75 16), 3.73 gearing, after market exhaust, throttle body, k&n cold air kit. he gets 8-9 mpg around town and 12 mpg on the freeway. he's been dragging he's feet on buying a CDT. he's a chevy man through and through. but i can't blame him, his interior is almost nicer then the cadilacs.............. oh, btw, i do believe it's a 6.1, not a 6.0........i believe.......

Cousin of mine has a 02' Chev 2500HD 4x4 with the 6.0 in it. I'm not sure what rear end gearing he has in it but he claims it gets around 13-14mpg regardless if he is empty or towing his small 5th wheel. So far he's only done a throttle body spacer to it, CAI and a superchips microtuner. Fairly strong and quick. The 6.0, although a gas guzzler is a very solid motor IMO. But he's selling the truck since he picked up an 07 Dodge 4x4 CTD ManVan

Mine was bone stock except for the air filter, I put a K&N in it. I don't think it did anything. 4spd auto w/ 3.73 axles, I think.
