Anybody live in the Tomball, Pinehurst area?
I will be in the Pinehurst, Tx area in April with my RV. Was going to go from there to other parts of the states, but with the ever increasing cost of fuel, have decided not to go very far from there and enjoy that general area instead. Who lives in that area of Texas? What are nice places to visit within about 100 miles from there and preferably on the water? I do not mind places off the beaten track. We will probably be there for about 2 or 3 weeks before returning to Mexico.
There's not much in that area for water besides Lake Conroe. Personally, I don't like that lake. It's all bulkhead and has a ton of boat traffic on it. The north end is so stumpy I don't know how anybody navigates it. Makes for a constantly rough lake. If your looking for water, head an hour or so north east towards Livingston.

This is the kind of info I am looking for, thanks. Been looking at the map and there appears to be a few nicer areas in the Angelina and Sabine N'F's. Anybody have any suggestions about that area and maybe also suggest some decent RV parks.

Any more DTR members in that vicinity? Seems to me that there was somebody from Magnolia as well. On the coming trip I should have the time to meet a few DTR members. That is, IF they want to meet with me.
Might be a bit far but look at Canyon lake clearest water in Texas
A little rocky but nice.

For this area the best bet is one of the parks on Lake Conroe.
Personally the lakes in the Hill Country (Central TX) is a much nicer place to visit than the east TX lakes (unless you're into fishing).

Have not been in that area for years. Yes, it does remind me of home. Last time I was there, rented a plane and flew around at random checking out the sites from the air. Very nice.
Unfortunately we will not be going that far north or west on this trip, unless my wife changes here mind about how long she wants to be away and how much time on the road she wants.

Finish up my business on April 10 or 11 in Pinehurst, and after that we are free to roam where the wind blows us.

Thanks guys for all your suggestions. Made a decision and have the RV park reservations confirmed. We will be arriving at the Tomball Corral RV park on April 5 and leaving there on April 12. From there we take a short trip to Lake Livingstone and will be there for a week at least. If we like it there, may even stay another week.
Would have been nice to go further afield, but the way the price of diesel is climbing, we decided to keep the miles down for this trip. Looks like I need to budget $4:50 a gallon or to be safe, $5 a gallon. That is absolutely insane!
A quick Google shows this short trip will be a minimum of 2,950 miles, so if I average say, 15 mpg, then the fuel at $4.50 is going to cost a ridiculous $900!!!!!!!! See why we decided not to do much driving for this trip.
If there are any DTR members in that area that would like to meet with me during that time, let me know. Mikey?
