Anybody here Dirt Track Race

Just wanted to see if any other diesel truck owners here share my hobby. I have been racing on dirt for 3 years now and think it might be the funnest type racing around.
I have a street stock 78 camaro. It has a 358 small block, 3 speed and 6:20 gears. Local tracks mandates street stock to pull 19" of vaccum, and run manifolds. But we do run on 8" wheels with hoosier dirt tires. Makes for a very fun and competitive class.
My first year on dirt I ran in the 4 cylinder front runner class. I raced a 1988 pontiac le mans aerocoupe with a 1.6 and a 5 speed. Started racing 8 races in to season and came in 2nd in points. Won 4 races and 7 heats. My brother who is 17 is going to race the Le monster this year after several upgrades to the engine and suspension, should be almost a dominating car this season.

Sorry for this post being long but the off season has almost killed me and can't wait to get back in driver seat. Everyone have a nice day.

Ive got a 2001 model Harris dirt modified that I have no time or money to race and I am considering selling it. I bought it new and went down and picked it up and got it 85% put together and decided to start working on the road. I raced my Speedway dirt modified all through high school and a few years after. Miss it like nothin else. Buisness, 5 kids, and wife keep me pretty well entertained these days wish I had more time.

i race but not dirt

i race asphalt late models in southern wisconsin. been racing 6 years. it a blast but takes lots of cash, thank god for sponsors! started out in hobby stocks, won rookie of the year. next year went to sportsman, won rookie of the year. following year won first track championship, then missed part of the following year. 2004 won another track championship. 2005 finished 2nd in rookie of the year in late models. hopefully this year will bring another title. cant wait for racing. starts in april here. Pure Srock Asphalt...78 Ford Granada with some ...ummmm...tweaking.

Has not been raced by me yet, as I just bought it this off season. i have some concerns to work on with the safety factor. Mostly with the way the fuel is delivered from the cell to the engine.

351C, gutted 4 speed

Only when the pavement turns to gravel and the cop is still behind me.

Just kidding...

glad to see i'm not the only one with this expensive hobby. what got me to thinking about racing real bad yesterday was the 15 practice laps I ran in a limited late model. I think it is a GRT chassis, but do know that it has a 434 cubic inch small block. It dynoed at like 640 hp. It was a blast to say the least.
My camaro runs 17.20s at our local track which is slick and almost flat. My fastest lap in the late model car was 15.10. regular driver who is my uncle ran several 14.80s. wish I could've run a few more laps. next year I think I will move up to modified street or maybe late models.

Well, I used to race asphalt. Ran a Nascar "pro-truck" at Lake Erie Speedway here in Erie Pa, for a few years. Last season I blew 3 motors and my credit card, so I hung it up, sold everything, and I might be retired. I'm taking at least a year off to pay my bills, and then, who knows.

If you take a year off, you'll probably never race again. I don't know how many people I saw that took "a year" to pay bills or whatever. I'm not sure why it's like that but it is. I never raced, but pitted for an IMCA Modified for 4 years.

Aint that the truth, I had twins(not turbos) and wrecked the car in the same year. Decided to "take a year off" to be a family man and get the car back together. So now I have 5 kids and a racecar that sits in the shop and I work on the road. Apparently in the winter I spent alot of "together" time with the wife and every spring we had a new bundle of joy (diaper receipts, hospital receipts, etc) to rejoice. Oh well I can still "bench race" with the best of them. I did however figure out what was causing the "baby factor" and I remedied that one.
