Any hunters here?

Just wondering how many people on the DTR were hunters and I thought this may be a fun thread. What do you hunt? What's your weapon of choice?? Pics are always welcome too. Just got my buck back from the taxidermist. I'll get a pic of it soon.

What I hunt................
Whitetails, turkeys, hogs, and other small game animals along the way. I also do some fishing.

My weapon(s) of choice................
.300 Wby Mag stainless accumark with a Zeiss 56mm scope, .30-06 Browning stainless/camo a-bolt with another Zeiss 56mm scope, Thompson Center encore with yet another Zeiss 56mm scope, .243 Remington with a Leupold VX3, Benelli super nova, and a fully decked out Mathews DXT.

Yep, I hunt too. I hunt elk, deer, antelope and upland birds. I have hunted mountain lion, bear, moose, sheep and goat but no longer do. We also shoot varmit like coyotes, golphers, wood/rock chuck, prairie dogs, etc. I used to bow hunt but lost the time for it. I want to pick it back up again though. I miss it.

I currently use a .300 RUM for elk, deer and antelope and a 12 gauge for upland birds. I have too many guns to list but try to use them all or at least shoot them once a year at the range.

That's me. I've got enough of them to supply a small army; the ones I mentioned are my favorites for hunting. I've always wanted to hunt prarie dogs. Seems like that would be a ton of fun...... kinda reminds me of "whack-a-mole".

Deer hunting is my deal, though we do see a hog now and then. My son and I take our camper down to the family farm and camp, hunt, ride 4 wheelers. My primary stand is a 4'x6' enclosed with sliding windows, 2 office chairs, and heater. We've had lots of father/son time, but he will be a senior this year and off to college next yr. I use a 30 06, and he uses a 308. I have a PSE bow, but got lazy and haven't picked it up in 5 yrs. Already been cutting fire wood for this yr.

Goose, Whitetail Deer for me. 12ga pump for the Whitetail and 12ga semi for the geese. My county in Maryland is shotgun only for the deer no my rifles really never see any action.

Also a hunter here. Deer, bear, coyote, turkey, pheasants, and rabbits. My favorite would probably be rabbit hunting. Since I run hounds it takes up a lot of time.

Guns of choice..

Rabbit, pheasants- remington 870, 12 gauge
Deer, bear- remington 280
Coyote- savage 204, remington 12 gauge 3.5"
Turkey- remington 870 12 gauge 3.5" and a pardner 10gauge 3.5"

Personally I wouldnt want to be any other place that in the woods.....Good luck to you all this year

Deer--->bow(preference) and rifle(.270 Win); with the new Kansas regs, I think I'm going to buy a muzzleloader too.

Turkey--->trusty Mossberg 12ga.

Upland birds--->trusty Mossberg 12ga.

I hunt about everything you can here in Idaho when I have the time. Elk and deer are the primary targets but birds, bears, and rockchucks/squirrels get whacked as well.

If I'm rifle hunting for deer, elk, or bears I usually use either a custom .416 Rem Mag for up to 500yds or a custom .300 RUM for anything further. I go through cycles on rifles though and might try my custom .375 RUM this year instead of my .416. For birds it's a Remington 11-87 12ga and for varmints it's a 6mm BR, a 6mm Rem., or a .30-.338 Win Mag. Typically when I muzzleloader hunt for Elk it's with a Remington 700ML .50cal.
