Any certified FEMA disaster inpectors here???

I have an opportunity next week to get my FEMA cert. I was just wondering what kind of experience other inspectors have had with FEMA. I talked to a guy a couple of years back that worked the Florida hurricane disaster and he said that they were working 15-20 hours a day and making $250 per house with 15 booked per day. Is this an accurate expectation of potential earnings?

Well, I'm not any kind of disaster inspector but I can say unless all those houses are on the same block or within the same neighborhood the expectation of hitting 15 houses in a day i don't think is very realistic.

I service office telephone systems, and on a good day spending approx. 10-15 min per customer and including travel time I can hit between 6 and 8 customers. (the 8 is still an optimistic number) This is based on a 7.5 hour work day.

So, unless you are working very long days or spending 5 minutes on a house or have all those houses on the same block, I would adjust those earning expectations down a little....

I missed the boat. They were only allowing 80 entries and I was late. Maybe next time. In disasters like earthquakes and hurricanes most of the damaged homes are in the same area. It is still a long day. The guy I talked to said to expect to put in 15-20 hours per day. But they are dispatched for 2-3 weeks at a time typically and by my math that's over $3500 per day. Sounds a little unrealistic to me too. I was told that they issue you 15 per day and you have to complete them regardless of how many hours. Thanks for the input.
