Another week another break room
Don't know if I could take more than a visit to the rest home state. FIL and MIL used to head south with a Hi-Lo camper about the time snow flew and come back in April. They mostly camped in guvmnt campgrounds along the gulf coast. I think I'll try that next year.
One reason they go with atmospheric pressure is that they don't have to prove they can weld to make them. Another reason is PEX can't stand pressure boiler temps anyway.

I was most impressed with these people's honesty. Every question I had was met with an answer, even if it was "I don't know". I'd rather get that answer than some line of BS.
Noticed I had no heat this a.m. Eventually warmed up. Got home and parked...truck sounded like it was gurgling. Open hood and find coolant overflow nearly full...cold. Radiator cold too.
Looks like I'll be changing the thermostat and water pump tomorrow. I was planning on changing the belt this week...sooner now then later.
Any other ideas on what it would be? Can't think of anything else that would do this.
Hey J

funny thing Scotty.
This am, on the way out, noticed some nastier than usual noises from the transmission on the old chevy. Coming home tonight, about a mile out, the nastier than usual noise became a really nasty noise. I think the 3rd gear thats been ugly for the last 60,000k or so, finally piled up. Oh well. Not like I wasn't expecting it. Thing is, its been noisy that long, so has 5th gear. And being that I have several spare transmissions, not a big deal. Just have to change it out.
Tranny still has all the gears, it just doesn't particularly like any of them. The noise is super cool though.
Other than that, warm today, warm yesterday, snow for two days prior to that. Think we might get some minor flooding this year. Guys out in the creeks are expecting to lose a lot of road this spring, huge snowpack, and the melt is going to happen fast.
Otherwise things are normal form, flat out sideways busy. Still working on getting the "new" service truck ready to go, guess that just got pushed up the list a little.
Things are never so bad, that they couldn't be made worse. Have a good one people

I can't wake up.

Neither of us could sleep either. So here we are.

C0ffee & Lem0n Bac0n ph00 is ready.
Mornin' everyone ....thought I'd peek in, snag a donut and swipe some coffee.
Spent the weekend at a Navy ship reunion ...what a great time !! Small group but we covered 5 generations of crew members ...one guy was a former Florida state senator and he was on the ship back in 1948 !! Cool stories from that shipmate.
Back to work ...got a few empty seats if some one needs a ride.
Cheers,

Scotty, I got your text last night, but we were already in bed... my bad. The Tstat would be a good start, I'd look at your oil and coolant to make sure they are not mixed.
Mornin. Coffee, off to work.

OK, coffee and gone.
Bob
If yer lucky, it could also be a small leak, somewhere high, like in a heater line. Loses a little coolant each cycle. On cool down sucks air in the leak, leaving the coolant in the reservoir. Eventually it's too low to circulate, and the heater fails. Usually overheats, though.
The easy redneck way to find a heater hose leak is to pull the line off the overflow jug and put about 12 psi of air pressure on it with a regulator. Then mess with the lines. The cracked fitting will spit right in yer eye. Be sure to shut off the air and pop the radiator cap before you disassemble anything or you'll take a shower. The cap will hold the pressure after you quit applying it.
Mornin' all. Storm that was supposed to dump 6-9 inches of snow left about 1 inch. Don't need the snow thrower after all. Clay driveway is a screaming mess, though.
When Chaisquatch and his dog were yawning, I still had 3 hours of z's to go. Eat your heart out.
Grabbin' a cuppa and going to work.

OK, I changed the thermostat...and I have heat. Drove about 10 miles and checked...a very VERY slow blub...................blub of air coming up thru the overflow. The level of the coolant stayed at about 3/4 and also stayed cold.
Drove home...idled in garage...took radiator cap off...radiator was almost cool...no pressure...and no flow. Shut off truck...no gurgling but then I hear dripping. Drip is from front behind ac compressor...down low...coolant.
Going to try a water pump next as last time I had a head gasket fail where exhaust was pumped back thru the cooling system...it was a lot more violent.
No heating problems...no spike on temp gauge, no coolant in oil, runs smooth...fingers crossed.
Spoke to local diesel mechanic...he suspects water pump.
Time will tell.
Sorry bout the thread hi-jack. Wait...I started this thread.

Bobby send me a few of your Depends to soak up the spills.

I'd not throw parts and labor at it... take it in and have the dye put in the coolant, then they'll use a black light to find the leak. Or, you can do it yourself with a little research. (I've never done it, just read about it)
Water pump is ~100 bucks, plus the two hours to r and r it... if nothing changes you have an extra water pump and the same problem.
Afternoon. Slayed myself at PT today, good times. Home now, monkeying with stuff.

I was thinking about it, but the guy that owns the house is broke... he won't even let me fix the sprinklers for cost!
I'll just pressure wash it before I leave, I keep a drip pan under the bike...
