I agree with you 150% on both of those points and I've said that for years. Altho when I say it, I get accused of being a wacko myself! But if every able-bodied person were responsible for their own safety and carried their own weapon, most of what happens like these shootings wouldn't happen in the first place. Sure, it would be like the wild west for awhile, but after a while, even the sickest of morons would begin to think twice before opening fire on someone, stealing from someone or trying to cause bodily harm.

It would be like the old days of who's the fastest draw, cowardly people and dictators. I'd rather have a trained police officer on my side than some trigger happy nut job.

Hate to say this, but don't get too caught up with just these terrible shootings. Pay attention to Congress at this time, because this is the time the Democrats will try to push through healthcare and all their other garbage, while the rest of the country is watching and mourning these events as they unfold.

Exactly Chris, we cannot take our eyes off the ball, we sure aren't hearing much about 10.2% unemployment at the moment are we? pretty hard to push health care with the economic news were getting if the people are paying attention

then again, this is probably a left-wing conspiracy to get us all off the economy just like bringing the twin-towers down so we could have a war for oil

here comes another push for gun control, especially hand-guns

although we all grieve we must keep our eyes on the big picture

And that opinion is exactly why these things keep happening. Sure, there would be a ton of trigger happy nut jobs out there... for a while. But eventually they would be thinned out to a controllable level. And how could a trained police officer always be where you need him to be in order to protect you? It's a lot more reliable to have your own weapon on your side and get the training for yourself in order to use it effectively. Draw speed isn't always the issue but accuracy IS!

Yea, where were the cops when myself and 2 guys were jumped by 2 jersey cops the other week because we threw them out of the bar as they wouldnt leave at closing time. Luckily they invited themselves to their own butt kickin. The cops finally showed up to a jersey cop with an explosion of blood running from his face and the other saying "I just wanna go home".

Point is, on duty cops arnt everywhere and at some point people need to self regulate. Its not that there would be shootings everywhere over a spilled drink but the fear of god would keep most people in line.

These things keep happening because our justice system doesn't kill alot more of them.. If we publicly hung alot more of these thugs, murderers and child molestors for everyone to see I believe there would be alot less of it. Prison time is not working for these people.

I'm not asking to have a police officer next to me at all times but when it comes down to being robbed I'd rather have a LEO at my side then some guy who just bought a handgun who's idea of aimming it is to use the "getto sideways stlye"

I have my CW permit and carry daily and so does my wife but thats not gonna keep me safe from the guy on the hillside 800 yards away aimming a .300 mag at my head.

Honestly how hard would it be for say someone like myself with alot of experience with LR shooting and concealment to pick of someone without anyone ever knowing? People are going to kill people forever. If not guns then knives. If not knives then rocks

When seconds count, your trained police officer is only minutes away. I'd rather rely on myself and my Sig 40. cal with police ammo in it. Better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6.

If I walk up behind you and put a gun to your head and take you hostage you have zero chance of pulling your weapon on me.. And if I were you I would much rather have a LEO on my side then untrained Billy Bob..

I have my CWP and carry daily

Again, if someone sees the guy you're referring to on the hillside, he just might get shot before he shoots YOU. If you've done something to make someone go to all the trouble of keeping themselves hidden and attempting to shoot you with a high powered rifle from 800 yards, even tho they may get shot themselves from someone like me who sees what is happening, then maybe you've done something to him that justifies your extermination.

Rocks were probably the most sophisticated weapon of your childhood days, wasn't it?

True. But what about the other 50 or so people in your general vicinity that are carrying weapons, ready to use them against you? And some of them may be like me that really don't care about the hostages' well-being as much as taking an idiot out of the population that thinks he can take hostages whenever he wants to, which endangers me and MY family. If I take you out, I may take the person you're holding hostage along with you, and that's a shame, but God only knows how many more people you would have put in harms way had you lived a full life span. The price I paid to remove you was that of your hostage, but you will not be taking hostages anymore.
