another laptop mount thread
anyone know if the ram mount (Ram-Mount RAM-VB-104-SW1) is able to place the computer right in front of the center console? so in otherwords, the passanger wont feel cramped by a laptop hovering next to their arm. also want to know if you can actually rotate the mount to face the passanger seat. if anyone has pics, awesome, if not, I just wanted to know before I spend the cash.
thanks!
thanks!
I have the Ram Mount for Dodge, not sure of the model, but I have an 06 quad cab. You can put the laptop just about anywhere you want, the arms are about 8 inches each so it swivels to just about anywhere. The riser pipe is just about between there the center seat and the passengener seats are, thus will be out of the passenger's way. I have a 6 speed, to I keep the computer over on the passenger footwell if riding alone or over the center seat if with a passenger. I do use a Panasonic toughbook 19, so its smaller than the normal laptop. I have tried my new Dell 630 XFR (toughbook clone, but fullsized) and it does take up more room.
Some advise on installation unless they have changed the instructions, the carriage bolts that hold the upright post need to be held in with duck tape from below and nuts added from the top because there is no way to bolt it place once you have it bolted down to the seat bolts. The mount is rock solid and I would recommend it.
