Another computer question.

Hey guys, help me out please. I have had three computer guys take a look at my computer for various problems and they have fixed most of them. There is one problem that nobody so far has been able to resolve and I hope that one of you computer guru's can help me.
How come the graphics do not show in some areas? For example on the DTR site at the very top of the page I have blank area with a small square and a tiny red X inside the square. Also where it says 'DTR special sponsor, there is that annoying square and the red X inside. If I receive an email with graphics they show with no problem but if I try and forward or to reply to that email the graphics are replaced with that square and the little red X inside.
I presume it is just a matter of changing some setting, but which one?

Not sure if this is related but I am having a bad problem with attaching stuff to my emails. I use Yahoo. The problem is sporadic but lately is getting worse. Whenever I try and attach something ti takes forever to tell that there is a problem and to try again in a few minutes. The odd time the attachment attach's in seconds and goes thru OK. Is this a Yahoo or a server problem? Or something in my computer?

Thanks.

Do you have DSL or dial up? I am working out of town and have to use dial up and I have the same problem occasionally. The slower my connection is the worse the problem seems to be. I don't remember having the problem when I am at home using DSL. I also use Yahoo.

I have DSL. Yesterday I tried an attachment and it was a success in about 5 seconds. Have not tried it today.

Could be your firewall settings. Some of them block the download from other sites than the one visited. (Like the sponsor pic that is inserted from somewhere else).
The upload to yahoo points into the same direction. What kind of security program do you use?

I use McAfee as a virus checker and also Ad Subtract.

Just tried to attach three photos to an email and it took 3.8 minutes to attach only one of the three and then give me the usual message that there was a problem and to try again in a few minutes.

Don't know if this is a clue or not, but when I try and forward an email that contains pictures of any sort, the pictures disappear and are replaced with that box with the red X inside as soon as I click on 'forward' or 'reply'. Of course they don't come out at the recipients end either.

Yahoo email has been suffering lately.

Half the time I try to go check it, it gives me an error message "unable to process at this time" or something like that. Either from home or work, both highspeed.

Safe assumption would be Yahoo has grown beyond it's means, again.

And again.

OK, Phox, I had suspected that one of my problems was inside Yahoo, particularly when I noticed that after the recent Yahoo changes, my attachment problems got worse.

That then means that I have two distinct problems here. One is Yahoo and the other inside my computer, such as settings that need changing. But which settings?
