An announcement......

On this day in June 1971, my wife and I got married. It was rather rushed, pushed ahead due in part to the situation that was occuring in Vietnam, my survival of 2 tours there, not knowing when or if I was going back, and a feeling of mutual need/closeness/desire.
After much counseling, deliberation, inner thoughts, and discussion, with not only our children but ourselves, we've decided to go ahead and see if we can stand each other for another 32 years.

shortround and mamashort out

Congrats SR. ;D 8)
Sympathies to the Mrs.

Nowadays with the "quicky" marriages and divorces, kids don't want a Marrage License, they want a Learner's Permit.

I hope one day in the future I can post that me and Wifey made 32 years.

Re:An announcement......

Hey SR and MrsSR, congrats on your successful marriage. Me and the better half are working on year 38. A very big chunk of those were military years which as you know, introduces some additional stresses.

The secret???? I don't know, but I find that respect goes a long way. I think it's too easy to quit nowadays. And that's what it is: quitting.

Sorry, didn't mean to sermonize on your joyful occasion. Many more years of happiness. See ya for my 75th and I'll come for yours.

~Dave

Re:An announcement......

You beat us by a couple of hours. Ours was at 6:30 in the evening. She was 18 and I was 22. Honeymoon spent driving to Long Beach to ship the car to Hawaii. Both of us got sick on the plane flight. Never forget it.
