I have a Ruger model 77 that I have shot both .308 and 7.62X51 in with no issues. I have also shot .223 and 5.56 in my Ruger Mini 14 without issues either. I've also shot .308 bullets (reloads) in my 7.62X39 Ruger Mini 30 without issues. Maybe it's a Ruger thing, I don't know.

Top's first two posts were spot on and in more detail than what one would usually find posted on the subject.

Good info to be heeded.

Have any of you shooters read Stephen Hunter's new book 'Third Bullet'? As we are about to hit he 50th anniversary 11/22/63 (JFK assassination) it isn't surprising that the book is written around an alternate assassination conspiracy theory, the cool part is the ballistic/rifle/reloading aspect to the book. If you are even moderately interested in reloading and rifle shooting, like most Stephen Hunter books, the technical aspects of the book should excite you. I give it 4 out of 5 rounds in the magazine.

Yeah Top,
That's only because you were busy not going to Laos or Cambodia (even though it appears that members of the groups you were with were).
Just like they flyboys that weren't inserting SOG groups and such were not flying into those areas either.
Dang, there were a lot of brave people not doing things back then.

I want to get my hands on that one, I have heard it is really accurate and a good read....

I always cringe at Robert B. Parker's gun slips and make notes in the books. I know its fiction, but the M-16 is not 7.62mm!!!!

Oh yeah, and the cylinder does not flip open on a SA Colt...

Still good reads though,
