i finally downloaded AIM, says service unavailable, or is it unavailable for some of you right now..... I also dont know if I if i install this right? i clicked on run the program, or was i supposed to click on save..

haha, are you downloading the the windows verson? then you go through the steps to instal it and then open and run it. Souldn't be any problems. Dont forget my SN Mainer0311

Clicking on either run or save is ok. The save method will keep the file on your HD.

still aint workin, we have a MCafee firewall, and a cable modem, i have had no problems with Msn or Yahoo, just this one, BTW,

Did you tell your McAffee firewall that it's OK to accept AIM service and that hte AIM may access the internet? If not it will block AIM and AIM says service unavailable because it can't connect.

Did you guys know there are a couple of apps that allow you to get rid of Messenger, Yahoo, ICQ, and AIM and use all messenger services with one simple application?

gaim and Trillian are two of the best right now, and are free.

I have looked at both gaim and trillian , the only problem is i would not be able to use any of my extensions for msn or yahoo , especially my msn plus.

I have extensions that remove all of the advertiseing, add more special features(especially msn plus , very useful in my opinion, it will even tell me the last time any of my contacts were seen online.)

 

Trillian Pro will allow you to do all that, and the price is reasonable. The plugins for Pro are very good. I've been a Pro user for some time now and is the only thing I'll use when using the Windows side of this machine.

 

I am also not wanting to spend money on software either
