'93 GMC 1/2ton Rear Axle Seals?

Have said truck as a beater for local errands. In checking the rear brakes, I noticed the rear axle seals are starting to weap fluid. Not bad enough that the brakes are getting wet (maybe the axle is low on fluid too, who knows, it's a beater..). Anyway, I've never changed these seals before on any vehicle and was wondering how hard it is to do? Do you have to pull it apart from inside the pumpkin and slide the axle drive shaft out or how do you go about changing these. If it's too much of a pain in the tail, maybe I won't even mess with it. Only run this thing enough to go thru about 1 tank of fuel a month.

Thanks!

C-clips from the inside.

Basically it is just a 30 spline 8.5" 10 bolt GM. You might also find bad axles as they tend to wear riding directly on the bearing.

Not a huge PITA, but bad enough.

That could be an explanation for the driveline noise I hear in this thing. I suspected it was in the auto trans or xfer case but that might be a better explanation for the type of noise.

Thanks!
