4Runner Maintinance
4Runner Maintinance
My wife's ride is a 97 4Runner with the 3.4 V-6, and it's been a great vehicle...
But due to the fact that it has 111k miles I want to replace the plugs and wires. The engine compartment says to use dual electrode plugs. Beyond that do yall have any experiences or sugestions?

unless the plug wires are really bad (cracked etc) dont worry about replacing them. i had 180k on a set with no problems `till i pulled the boot of when changing the plugs.. the wires for toyotas are amazing , but expensive too!
maybe do the timing chain. simple to do .. just lots of removing stuff to get in there.. valve job. simple too.. 1 days work, i miss my toyota! wanna trade for a suzuki samurai? 3" lift 30" tires. new engine and garenteed to do 80 on the freeway*
ohh and mine always loved the nippon-denso ugrove plugs!
* going downhill. full throtle. actual freeway speeds may vary due to actually climate and conditions!

The 3.4 has a timing belt that they say to replace every 60,000 or so. You will get the best results with using the same brand of plugs that come in it. Be sure to flush the coolant and get rid of the pink crap if you have not already. Other than that drive it until the wheels fall of.
