The 3-11-12 to 3-18-12 Breakroom of Learn-ed Discussion

Its funny because when I was in the 9th grade (about 1969) we moved to EAFB Alaska for awhile.
The military had the library in a huge three story building and didnt use the basement for anything.
During the winter we would say we were going to the library and meet up with girls in the basement (who had told their parents the same thing) and play Tiddly Winks.
I learned a lot about Tiddly Winks at that old library.

When Chaikwa was a little rascal in the 1st grade his Teacher had the students stand up one at a time on the first day and tell their names...everything went well till she got to Scott and he stood up and said "My name is Scotty and everybody calls me Potty and (Bleep) That makes me Mad
The Teacher told Scott "Whoa there mister, there will be none of that language at school! the rest of the children finished up without any problems....
Then the Teacher asked all the children to stand up and tell where they lived....all went well till she got to Scott and he said " I live on Bird street and everybody calls it Turd street and (Bleep) that makes me mad
The Teacher told Scott this time he earned himself some detention and he had to stay after School and write (I will not cuss) 100 times on the blackboard.......after about 20 minutes of this Scott tells the Teacher..."I know why you kept me after school" The Teacher say's "Oh? and why is that?"
Scott replied..."Cause you wanna diddle and I'm too little and (bleep) That makes me mad!"

Thanks, I think.
Actually, the most important thing I learned was when my Daughter got older I would give her a ride to the library and pick her up (because I was such a thoughtful Father).
Also made sure the library didnt have a basement.
edit: Unfortunately, our Church did have a basement--thats where she met her boyfriend/husband all those years ago.

Neat stuff Grandpa!
Actually you arent that far off on the mad stuff (not really)
Interesting thing is they both insist they never "fooled around" too much.
I actually (sort of) believe them.
My Son in-law used to be terrified of me.
Plus every cop in our area knew me.
They dated for three years before setting a wedding date.
Doesn’t mean they didn't mess around but to this day they are one of the most compatible couples I know.
Whether you are a religious person or not it’s kind of tragic that the media loves to tell news regarding religious people who lie,
cheat and swindle but they don’t spend much time on the people who do community services,
help the homeless and spend their own time and money taking kids fishing,
camping and other activities that get them off the streets.
WoW, this almost turned into a rant!
Anyway, I am proud of both of them and I like to think that my slightly misspent youth (i wasn’t that bad but Dad was gone a lot)
gave me a few tools to help guide my kids into being responsible adults.
And I was fortunate that my Daughter married a guy who had identical values.

I agree with your sentiment......the news caters to the bad side of life and sensationalism..... the good things people do are over looked for juicier stories.
You did good there Paw Paw...brought her up right by giving her morals she could build a life around AND for not killing the guy that took away your baby girl

That's interesting - - I have been blaming Comcast or else the new computer for the same problem. Maybe it is the host here. Not having the same problems on other sites.
Congrats paw paw. Fun watchin GK's grow, mature (well, sometimes not too much of that), achieve. I have one in Florida State, Junior with major in music - - she is soooo focused it is amazing. Pulls straight 4.0's, in major symphanys. Highly motivated on morals and principles. She leaves Friday for a missions trip to Guatemala for a week. She is sooo excited.
OK, gotta go - - made some ph00 and ph00ey on the other stuff. Seeya.
