2008 PSD 6.4 on Ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2008-...QQcmdZViewItem

Found that during my general search for "diesel" to see what I could find. That tailgate step-ladder is kinda neat. Front end is still too freaking ugly. Kinda wish they had more pictures of the engine bay, though.

There was a thread floating around here about one on TRUCKS tv. They did show a picture of the engine compartment. Talk about trying to put 10lb of crap in a 5lb bucket. I also agree on the front end, not very appealing to me either.

Yeah that engine compartment is cramed! You could not drop a quarter through it and hit the ground. Notice the sticker price of the engine $6895! That is almost as much as a really good used car.

Heck, you could find a used cummins + a dodge wrapped around it for that price if the 12v is your kinda thing.

The local Ford dealer has an 08 F-450 4 wheel drive loaded with everything, leather ect.... Sticker price was $57K. I almost fell over when i saw that price. The interior was nice looking though.

I thought Ford couldn't do anymore damage than they already have.

Does anyone know if the new 08's still use glow plugs? Cause it looks like they would be impossible to change. I also heard that the injectors are inside the valve covers.

We got a couple at work that they're outfitting right now. I'm avoiding our equipment guy so I don't have to experience motor problems again on the new engine. I'll drive my '07 6.0 L thanks - not that I like it, but I'll keep the '07.

According to the drawing in the feb issue of diesel power they do. The duramax still does also.

couldnt pay me to drive one. They are flat out ugly IMO. The tailgate step is a good idea in theory, but I think it will prove clumsy and prone to failure in the real world. How many pickups out there have tweaked tailgates for one reason or another?? I know mine is (not bad tho, cant see it unless you use a straight edge), and if it had that silly step, it would probably bind up.

second of all, still only 4 head bolts per cylinder just like the headgasket-eating 6.0. Thirdly, how do we even know theres an engine in there? I cant see one...I think ford is running it on hopes and dreams.

no...the duramax hasnt had injectors under the valve covers since early 2004 (at the changeover to the LLY). On LLY's and LBZ's and the new LMM's (which have external injectors) you can change an injector in about 15 minutes.

I think he meant glow plugs..

In reference to the head bolt/studs. Not only does the amount of studs come into play but the size, materials, contact area, placement, head gasket design and material, and a host of other things play into whether you will have issues or not. As a reference, the "amount of studs" is about as valid an argument as calling the Cummins a better motor because the connecting rods are "stronger", when in reality it's apples to oranges.
