Good call. My boss almost got mugged while plowing snow a while ago. He was taking a nap in his truck. I'm gonna have my mini-14 with me next time I do that.

 

I just finally got home from a big road trip and I just locked the doors as I slept in the truck. I'd think if the doors were locked it would give me enough time to wake up, find out what is happening and I should have enough sense to start the truck and leave if it is necessary.

 

I modified my alarm system so I can set it when I am inside with the engine running, you need to bypass the starter interupt.

These muggers had guns. I usually lay on be bench seat with my jacket over me, feet towards the side that is not buried in the snow bank. Next time I will load up the mini-14, and keep it under the jacket. someone points a gun at me, it will be their last conscious act. When it comes to putting my life in danger, i really don't care about the door, window, or truck for that matter. It can all be replaced. I would also not be willing to meet any demands of such a mugger, because if he takes my truck, he will have access to the small arsenal behind the seat, and could reak havok all over town.
