That may be the difference (or it at least probably helped you). It sounds like you grew up driving these types of vans. Most of the folks who drive them on the roads today did not...and in the case of churches especially you probably have lots of different people driving the vans who don't drive them often enough to know how they handle.

As someone else said, these 15 passenger vans are nothing more than converted cargo vans. They're not designed to carry people. Not only do they have a high propensity for rolling, but they offer very little protection to passengers once they do start to roll. It's just a bad situation overall.

As with any large vehicle, folks that drive them all the time and know how they handle are much less likely to have a problem. Folks that go from driving a Honda Civic all week long and then on Friday night get behind the wheel of a 15 passenger van to take the youth group to camp are much MORE likely to have problems simply because they don't know how the vans handle.

That said, you can't just blame it on inexperienced drivers. The vans themselves are dangerous.
