I'm looking for a wire feed welder and want some input on what is good and what to avoid. This will be used for &quot;hobbying&quot; not for business/production heavy use.<br>I've been considering a Lincoln MigPac 10 but wonder how much for a gas bottle.<br>Thanks, Chris

 

I have the miller 135 with the shielding gas. I love it the bottle lease is the expensive part. I did a life time lease and it was about 200 dollars. You get 100 back when you turn in the bottle. I think Lincoln, Hobart, and Miller all make good machines. I got the free cart with the Miller. I like the way the wire feed is also.

 

I have a miller also that i run with my big miller welder just keep an eye on the duty cycle on the one you decide to get

Who makes the Craftsman mig welder? Is it any good for light duty?

 

i bought a hobart at the local tractor supply store ( love that place ) so far i really like it. im using the flux core wire so i dont need the sheilding gas right now...good luck, scott

 

if you have a 220 outlet <br>stay away from the 110 units<br>you wont like them if you have to do any real welding <br><br>real welders use stick and tig

 

You can weld thick metal with a 110. I work at a mine where we run 480 volt welders. The point is we multi pass with those as a person might multi pass with a 110. You have to be doing alot of welding to need a huge duty cycle. If your not sure what duty cycle is than you probably don't need a bid welder. I have built several trailers with the 110 with no trouble.
