Had diesel up to 110

Climbing first big hill out of Phoenix, something about a guy in a Lexus SUV rubbed me the wrong way so after he was about two miles ahead of me on the hill I started my approach.
Passed him at 110 just as we crested the hill, radar detector went off and I saw patrol car in center divider. Last speed I saw was 100 but I must have slowed enough to get away with it or else he wasn't paying attention.
I wonder what the top end on these trucks is as I know there was alot left?

I've noticed I'm about 3000 rpm at 100 mph. I'd guess 110 puts you pretty close to red-line at 3200 rpm.

I believe I would have pee'd myself upon seeing a cop in the median going that speed! Good thing he was doing paperwork or something and didn't get a lock on you.

Nice truck, billyrae! Mine is it's twin, although I wish it had your leather seats.

105 at 2500 rpm here and still pulling like a freight train. The eery thing though is how smooth and quiet she is at 105 mph. Feels almost as good as the vette.

Just a cruising

Same here. Hit 112 at about 3200 rpm. Had a little more pedal but rpm nor mph went up at all. Must be some governor somewhere. No need to find out though, fast enough for me but boy, truck was sure smooth at that speed.

Funny how no one has jumped you abought being a danger on the road going that fast. I am not going to, Im just comenting on how the safety patrol hasent jumped all over you for speeding and putting others in danger or something like that. I posted a question over in the towing and hauling section abought the weight limits for the factory reciver. I stated that I towed a heavy trailer 7 or 8 miles that I knew was over the recomended limit but it did it fine and I got called everything in the book short of a killer and a few hinted twords that as well.

Anyhow just curious if anyone knows how fast these things will go? Is there a difference between the 6 speed and auto or are they both governed at a sertain speed. Not that I will ever need to go that fast just curiouse.

What gears you have alot to do w/ it, Ive had mine up to near 110 and was darn near redline and I have the 4.10 rearend. Id be curious to see what you guys w/ higher gear ratios and/or larger tires can hit.

The only governor I've ever found on my truck is at about 2700 when the truck starts to defuel. If you could get it to fuel to redline I'm sure you could gain a little more.

You guys have more guts than I do. I had my mother's '88 RX7 Turbo up to 110 once, briefly, and I stress briefly, and that was QUITE enough. And remember - that is a tight handling little sports car that was designed for that sort of thing. I can't even imagine it in my truck.

Fastest I've had any of my trucks is about 80-85, and I start getting nervous for the tires. Not to mention the possible points on my license.

I used to own a '91 RX7 and had it up around 130. Not something I did regularly, just once or twice. You are right that the truck feels nothing like this car since it was designed for high speeds and precise handling.

As for the truck, 115 or so seems to be the max. The engine has plenty of pull, but there aren't any gears left. I have the 3.73s and a 6 spd, but the 4.10s might not go as fast.

Talking

I've had mine up to 118 mph. 3.73 rear, 315's and 48re. Like it was on rails. Funny the original post mentioned a cop in the median, I was returning home from a crawfish boil in Shreveport on my bike (Honda VTX1800), topped her out to see what she had. Hit 130 mph and met a sherrifs deputy coming the other way . He hit the lights instantly, but thats the last I saw of him. I guess I'm just "not right".

After I hooked up my Avic-N1, I had to test out the speedometer feature. It's accurate to within .1mph. My bone stock '05 revved hard right up to 110 indicated where it just ran out of steam. This was 107.5 on GPS. With larger tires I'm sure it would go faster, not that I'd want to. My favorite part of this motor is how it pulls down low... don't really care too much about the top speed.

I haven't tried it on mine, but I wonder if you hit the key again (like cranking it) while your up there that it will by-pass the govenor. The guys in the Hemi forums said that allowed them to get pass the govenor. Bunches of them replied back saying it worked???? Don't know if our PCM is capable of that....
