01 Suburban Dash Lights

I have an 01 Suburban that has intermitant "BRAKE" and "ABS" lights coming on in the dash that will stay that way for hours and then just go out. Any ideas? No difference in braking but this is the way my Wife and Son get around during the week so I dont need any mishaps. Thanks.

I know in my mom's 97 Surburban 350 Vortec, that the ABS/Brake light will come on if you brake the tires lose. It only does it when it happpens in the snow or mud and only one tire spins, the tire only needs to spin a few revolutions before the light comes on.It usually goes off when you restart the car.

I doubt your wife sits there and smokes the tires,or goes in the mud with it.

That is the only thing that has done it on my mom's 'Burban.

You are right, my wife does not have a history of off road driving or burnout competition. I guess I will have to have the dealer scan it unless someone knows how to get the codes off this particular year truck.

first thing id check is the sensor plugs and wiring at the axles.

I remember the dodge durangos had a similar problem that was usually the plug being bad or the wiring shorting out close to it.

My son's Suburban has been in the shop a couple times for electrical problems. Both times the battery was replaced and that fixed it. Even though the battery test good. Warrantee took care of it. Tech guy keeps an old battery under the bench and installs it and says "yep bad battery " and a new one goes in...problem solved. go figure. Everyone is happy.
