Spiked Watermelon, that brings back a few memories..Lost a few too!

Wife had Dentist stuff today so I made her grilled cheese and 'mater soup for supper. Did good, if I say so myself!

Truck gave me the 25?? something code today for turbo/brake issues. Man I run the EB all the time! Guess I'll have to run it harder and borrow a big load to pull. Neighbor has a 25 ft dual tandem, guess I'll load it with everything I can find and yank it around a day or two. Was thinking about my other dually and one of the little tractors. That ought to do it! I sure miss my 98 12 valve sometimes...

(Looking around for the melon)

Chris, Just for you. Wife had an extra whole sheet cake left from her POW/MIA Flag Guard function. It didn't get delivered on time. Took the whole thing in to work and put it on the table by the Arms Room. Help yourself!! (The Airmen on nights will clean up the mess)

One of these days I might even figure out talking to a woman who's not completely unavailable.

I'd just buy the cheap tools and use them til they break, but I want to actually have some good ones for once. And a box to put them in. It will have to be lockable though.

Boss' kid keeps leaving a $10,000 Snap-off box open. Owner had me lock it Saturday. This morning he went to arrange his 1/2" ratchets and extensions properly and found them caked in grease, and another wrench missing.

Channellock's crescent wrenches are made in Spain.
Crescent's slip-joint pliers are chinese. I've been carrying Wilde pliers, USA made, and better than Channellock, even.

Had quite the lightning show south of here. Glad that one missed us. Typical McCook radio, weather doesn't happen, til it's gonna hit McCook.

Loved to ask my Great Uncle Marv about some of the altered tools in his collection. A lot of them had good stories behind them.
Such as the band wrench he made for Model T Fords.

Its kind of amazing how the right one will suddenly cross your path if you wait long enough.
I met my wife at church and as I have mentioned before, she has a low tolerance for alcohol.
She stopped even having wine at dinner many years ago so I really don't know why she is still with me.

We always had to sneak spiked oranges into events because watermelons wouldn't fit in our pockets.

I thought we weren't supposed to mention sheet cakes anymore after that one FiverBob made.
It started a thread that went downhill rapidly and ended with somebody telling me to "Eat Sheep Sheet and Die".
I still have no idea what that means.

Have a good day y'all!

Today's thought:
Using Twitter is like talking to yourself in a crowded room.

2004 - Google Inc. stock began selling on the Nasdaq Stock Market. The initial price was set at $85 and ended the day at $100.34 with more than 22 million shares traded.

1991 - Soviet hard-liners announced that President Mikhail Gorbachev had been removed from power. Gorbachev returned to power two days later.

1942 - About 6,000 Canadian and British soldiers launched a raid against the Germans at Dieppe, France. They suffered about 50 percent casualties.

1940 - The new Civil Aeronautics Administration awarded honorary license #1 to Orville Wright.

1934 - Adolf Hitler was approved for sole executive power in Germany as Fuehrer.

1909 - The first car race to be run on brick occurred at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

1856 - Gail Borden received a patent for his process of condensing milk by vacuum.

1848 - The discovery of gold in California was reported by the New York Herald.

1812 - "Old Ironsides" (the USS Constitution) won a battle against the British frigate Guerriere east of Nova Scotia.

It is Tuesday, August 19th.

Welcome to Bass Ackwards Tuesday!

Thanks for the c0ffee RR1!

Good morning!

Good morning everybody. What a glorious morning! The sun is just rising in a partially cloudy sky, there are a few contrails crisscrossing the sky, no wind and all in all it has the makings of a fantastic day. Believe it or not, but I am not talking about Paradise where I normally live, but from the residence of one of DTR's most famous members - Heidi and her husband. My wife and I are the guests that she was waiting for yesterday.

Over the last couple of days have helped my wife's oldest son and his wife get settled in Cornell university in Ithaca where they will be spending the next year so that he can complete his masters degree in architecture. He is doing a 2 year course in one year.

We drove from north of Toronto in a rental car to Ithaca and are now on the way back to Toronto for the flight home. As JMBM's place is en-route to Toronto she kindly consented to allow strangers to stay at her place for a couple of nights. Wonderful welcome from both Heidi and Mike. Was not attacked by her killer cat, so all is cool. What a fruit tray and meat and cheese tray she had waiting for our arrival!!! Waaaaay too much for us to eat, but I will try.

Not sure yet what the day will bring, but have every confidence that it is going to be a great day and I did not even try the watermelon.

L8tr. Maybe.
