My daddy taught me never make payments on anything that depreciates and never be so proud of something that depreciates that you pay too much money for it. Good advice.

YOu are really a bad boy, you know that? BAD BAD BAD........ and I thought you were my buddy.

Well, more interesting stuff to add to my scenario of what is going on in my life. Got a phone call last night just as I was leaving for a committee meeting - - one of the men in the class I teach - - his wife died at 5 pm yesterday. She has been having problems with mini strokes for 2 years - - this one was a big one. They were driving in the car when it happened - - he headed straight for the hospital - - maybe 7 or 8 minute drive - - DOA. Sooo, went over there with him after the meeting and spent some time with him. Spent four hours today at the nursing home with the other gentleman dying of cancer talking with Hospice and setting that up, then went to his room. I could not believe the deterioration in just a couple days - - OUCH. It was 3 pm and he had not touched his lunch, nurse said he did not eat breafast. Finally got him awake, but he would not talk much - - down to 106 pounds and he is 6' tall. Finally got him to drink his coffee and take two bites of some pudding, but that was it. Hospice thinks he might have a couple weeks. That drains you - - came home wasted trying to make decisions for other people like that. It was much easier making the decision for my mother than this is. So, looks like funeral next week and another one in another week or two after that. Not fun, but that is a part of life. At least both of these people had made their peace with their creator and were/are ready to go.

OK, going to hit the sack early - - another busy day tomorrow. I like that Tamper Proof ph00 pot - - left it on the counter with a trap by it that will only trigger if a Canuck gets near it. YEH. I will be back tomorrow and fill it up again. Sleep tight, gang - - I know I will.

Bob

Aw Bob, you have a special place to take care of others like you do. I'll say a prayer for you, continued strength.

And we're heeding the advice to put away the monthly truck payment into the savings account.

Shorts, I'm out. You've got the hall duty. Pass it on when you get ready. I left our friend on the counter.

Well,
Texas ladies are some of my best friends. A bunch of my team (from work) live in Houston. I had an enlightening discussion with one of them this week. We were discussing Albertans, Texans and shotguns. The short version of the lesson I learned about Texas and Alberta ladies was 'Our wives all love pumps, even if they are pump shotguns'.
Gotta love redneck ladies. They complete me.

My wife attended a seminar for a statistical software package which had two RCP members in attendance. They were appalled that she owned and new how to use a pistol.

I wish I knew more about the Republic of Texas. As an Albertan (oil and Republican) I think Texas would be a natural and warm southern home for me, but the Houstonians keep telling me I am more DFW than Houston...

I'd like to head back to central TX personally. North Texas is nice but I feel like we're way out here on our own. I like San Antonio flavor. That's where I feel more 'with my people'

I guess it is about time to pull the rip-cord on this week. It has been a rough one at work which has left me spent and tired at home for poor DW. I will check in with y'all in the morning after bacon, eggs hashbrowns and toast. My in-laws are celebrating their 50'th wedding anniversary tomorrow. Thata milestone doesnt happen all that often any more. Good on them!!!

Have a good night

I'm about ready to dim the lights myself. DH already scampered off to bed. He's got drill this weekend. Tomorrow I'm heading with friends over to a soccer game - US Women's team vs New Zealand. Should be fun, but we're in for some cold weather. Especially overnight.
