***BREAKROOM, 01/26 to 02/01***

Good morning lazy people!

Got up yesterday at 0400, filled the boiler and decided to plow the driveway and parking areas so at least there was access to all the barns and the house. Had about 12" of snow and it was still coming down hard. About 1/2 way thru, the sun started coming out and the snow tapered off, so I continued plowing and got everything cleaned up. Went to the woodlot around 1100 and got a load of chunks the tree company's had dropped off earlier in the year. Brought that back to the processor area and split them all. Stacked them at the boiler. By this time it was almost 1800 and I was beat. Sat down in front of the 'puter and promptly fell asleep until 2200.

Took a while but I finally got the driveway open:

Now it's snowing again.

It is Sunday, January 26th.

1784 - In a letter to his daughter, Benjamin Franklin expressed unhappiness over the eagle as the symbol of America. He wanted the symbol to be the turkey.

1788 - The first European settlers in Australia, led by Captain Arthur Phillip, landed in what became known as Sydney. The group had first settled at Botany Bay eight days before. This day is celebrated as Australia Day.

1802 - The U.S. Congress passed an act calling for a library to be established within the U.S. Capitol.

1837 - Michigan became the 26th state to join the United States.

1861 - In the U.S., Louisiana seceded from the Union.

1870 - The state of Virgina rejoined the Union.

1875 - George F. Green patented the electric dental drill for sawing, filing, dressing and polishing teeth.

1911 - Inventor Glenn H. Curtiss flew the first successful seaplane.

1942 - The first American expeditionary force to go to Europe during World War II went ashore in Northern Ireland.

1961 - U.S. President John F. Kennedy appointed Dr. Janet G. Travell as the first woman to be the "personal physician to the President".

1962 - The U.S. launched Ranger 3 to land scientific instruments on the moon. The probe missed its target by about 22,000 miles.

1972 - In Hermsdorf, Czechoslovakia, a JAT Yugoslav Airlines flight crashed after the detonation of a bomb in the forward cargo hold killing 27 people. The bomb was believed to have been placed on the plane by a Croatian extremist group. Vesna Vulovic, a stewardess, survived after falling 33,000 feet in the tail section. She broke both legs and became paralyzed from the waist down.

1992 - Russian president Boris Yeltsin announced that his country would stop targeting U.S. cities with nuclear weapons.

1996 - U.S. First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton testified before a grand jury concerning the Whitewater probe.

1998 - U.S. President Clinton denied having an affair with a former White House intern, saying "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky."

1999 - Saddam Hussein vowed revenge against the U.S. in response to air-strikes that reportedly killed civilians. The strikes were U.S. planes defending themselves against anti-aircraft fire.

Today's thought:
So, let us not be blind to our differences - but let us also direct attention to our common interests and to the means by which those differences can be resolved.

C0ffee and ph00 are ready. Looks like the WAS something to eat on the counter, but someone or something else got to them before I could.

TOB&F today!

Good morning. Where is everybody on this fine Sunday morning? I poked my nose in here about an hour ago and debated on starting the new breakroom, but got sidetracked.

Another fantastic day dawning here. Was out in shorts all day yesterday. Put the truck to good use hauling furniture. I work with a couple of orphanages down here and the largest (about 150 kids) has a sort of halfway house for the kids that are grown up and ready to transition to the real world. Their new place has no furniture, so two trucks (mine was one of them) went around to some houses that have donated unwanted furniture. I did not do any loading because we made the boys that were going to live in this new place do all the grunt work. The girls have their own place the opposite side of town. These places are well supervised and controlled. The group that runs this place does a great job. They even have their own school, from kindergarten to high school and are now getting ready to start a university. Some of the locals like the programs there and send their own kids in lieu of the government schools. They have about 300 kids in the school.

Received some sad news this morning. A relative that I have not met, died from a drug OD. He lives in Scotland and is only 20 years old. What a waste of a life!

First breakfast time is now, so outa here till later. Maybe or maybe not.

Behave. Be good. It's Sunday. Go to church.

Morning all..
The "cinnamon rolls" on the counter are for Chaikwa and Top....look yummy dont they?

Heidi, so far the UShippers are wanting a bit over $700 for the job, I'll do it myself if it comes to it for about $500 including renting a trailer.., just wanted to avoid hauling anything in the weather they are having up there..wind chill on the day its supposed to get picked up is forecast to be -50 and heavy snow there...would rather not see that...
Have I ever casually mentioned that I HATE COLD

theres a few days left on the auction tho, so hopefully someone will take the job for a realistic amount...

BTW for all you SHIPPING WARS fans.. Roy Garber ( perfect just like Roy) has passed away from a heart attack....

Anybody got an easy fix for a printer problem that I am having? It will only print page one of any multi-page document. Checked on the 'net and it appears to be a spooling problem and not uncommon. Tried a few of the suggestions, but so far can't make any of them work.

The printer is a Brother MFC-9125CN.

Chris, I HATE COLD too, so that is why I moved to Mexico.

Bark - not sure what good deed you did but JWBM's future daughter-in-law wants you to sit at the head table at the wedding. If you think I am making this up, go read JWBM's post from this morning.

Greetings
Hasn't been real good here. Daughter's birthday party yesterday and sewer backed up ruined everything in developed basement.
50 mph winds and blizzard warning now.
We called the city constantly to come clear the sewer to the street. Finally booked for
Feb 6 too little too late. City trees penetrate the old corrugated pipe. This spring it's all getting replaced. Sooner if it backs up again. Lots of work ahead. Thankful for insurance.
Total upheaval here. Crappy lol

Managed to get birthday done.
